i'd like to tell you i have searched the site..... but i havnt as i really dont know what to search for.
problem firstly is i have a misfire that i can resolve.
second is that in wet, gravel or any surface in which will cause the wheels to spin and traction light to come on, it seems like there is something in between the engine and the mufflers that is restricting flow. the more the wheels spin the worse it gets, it sounds like the car is going to stall and the noise that the muffler makes is a really annoying put, put, put kinda sound. its only just started recently. any help on this topic is much appreciated. im pretty new to these cars so im not to sure on what to look for or how to diagnose. and the car has 103k on it if that makes a difference
thanks.
is your engine shaking in the bay and ure exhaust pipes are shaking?? do u smell raw feul while it happends and does ure tach fluctuate from low rpm to high at idle?? if thats the case there is so many different things that can cause this, let me know if ure car is acting like that and if so post on here and ill check back tommorow. hope u figure it out man i can understand the frusteration.
i had something similar happen to me and found that one of the sensors for traction control was faulty...is it a auto or stick?....good luck...D
try driving with the parking break on just enuff to turn the trac control light on...see if it helps....if this solves the problem it might be a sensor on one of the front hubs
the engine is a little shaky but could that not be caused by the misfire.
the way the pipes are on the exaust, they seem pretty tight and hard to move, will try the parking break later today.
the tach stays at about 750 when on tick over.
there is a really strong smell, not so much a fuel smell, and the mufflers are thick black with carbon deposits.
the car is my cavalier and its an auto
thanks for the help, will check back and re post on the weekend
tried it with the park brake on 1 click, it still does it but not nearly as bad as when its off. the engine when its idiling is starting to shake a bit more, there is also more of a noise when accellerating coming from the area between the engine and the cat.
