Hey, I live in Halifax , and I just heard about this sale that Sound Speed is having on body kits. I would like to know what the quality and fit is like on their kits? I searched and found that some liked the kits and some hated. I was curious to see what people that are local to the shop have found about their kits? I have the cash to buy the RK kit I want I was just thinking maybe I could save some cash and get a hood as well as a kit if I go with them. I know you get what you pay for but like I said it would be nice to get the hood and all in one shot.
Any info is appreciated guys thanks

Hey Sam
Its really a tradeoff between a fibreglass and urethane kit. If you're very handy with fibreglass or have a friend who can fix imperfections or chips, then fibreglass might be a good way to go.
If your car is a daily driver, and you dont want to worry about debris hitting the front bumper and taking a chunk out, urethane will be your best bet.
A friend of mine had a fibreglass Drift Kit and Ram Air Hood and it didnt fit as nicely as a urethane kit. Just alot of gaps. This kit was bought about 2 yrs back, so Im not sure how relevant this info is.
Hopefully you can see the objectivity in my post.
Its probably a 50/50 shot with any Fibreglass kit, whereas RK Sport (urethane), its more of a 90/10 shot.
Good luck though!

I just got a fibreglass kit a few weeks ago from soundspeed and it fit great. Like I said in another post, it seems they've changed their methods of glassing their products and its a lot better than what I've previously seen.

I remember a while back when there kits were complete crap and everyone was bashing them and there were a bunch of posts on here about it ... maybe in the exterior forum
but they have cleaned up their act of selling stuff that didnt fit, I know i'm getting my kit from them and i have a couple of friends who have purchased from them and are going back to get more stuff.... so I say go for it.... FG is cheaper for the kit easier to fix and a lot more selection and if you want to do something custom its easily done.... when it comes to urthane you have like a few choices, RK sport, wingswest, ECC i donno whats going on with there kits i think there still around i thought i heard something but i might have just mixed up my reading of posts.....
its totally up to you .....
good luck with your purchase

good old soundspeed...... I wouldn't recomend them for customer service, and the fitmet of my type 2 wasn't very good at all, it left me with a huge wave that they then decided to SCREW DOWN!
So yah, i'm going to be getting the TYPE 3 BUMPER off them soon because i'm sick of the wave and I like the dual exhaust look.
However, I'm only going to them because I don't know where else to get the Type 3 rear. I wouldn't recommend them personally, but i'm stuck and thats the only rear that i really want.
how bad is this wave?? im lookin at getting the type 2 in a few weeks

thanks for the input guys....from the way it sounds I think I'll just spend my money on the kit I really wanted in urethane....cause for the 03+ they only have the bomex front and I'm not totally fond of it

could have gotten sea sick!
Triton: What does the Type 3 bumper look like? One of my suppliers might carry it in the US under a different name.

got a pic of the wavy rear? did you try L brackets? or one long piece of angular steel to hold the bumper up?
even the type J kit as pricey as it is, has the rear bumper famous wave in it.
as for the customer service...last time i went there (its almost 2 years now though, i haven't done too much to the car since then, except my own work) Gino was a great guy, and helped me out no problem at all.
i must say i got my kit today and am very impressed with the looks of it
dealt with Gino and have no complaints about the service whatsoever

We wanna see some pics phil...
And i saw the wave in Tritons back bumper, it was baaaaaad. I always waved back to his car when i went by it
once its on i'll get some pics of it but that wont be for a while right now

Purchased my kit from Sound speed a year ago in march. Customer service was excellent, and if you play your cards right... you can save some money by working out deals.
As for fitment, the type 3 rear has bad alignment close to the rear fender, and also if you were to purcahse this bumper to look into L brackets for the rear by the trunk lid to prevent sagging, and tension bars for the sides of the rear bumper to prevent them from sticking out past your rear tires. Hards to explain but I think most of you will understand.
Here's a couple of pics. I know they've perfected the drift front and Bx sides.
Good luck with the purchase.
I liked my experience with Soundspeed. My Drift front was dead on for fitment and quality, the rear was pretty good after the sag was fixed, but as for the sides....that was another story. Too wavy but they got molded anyways. Customer service was good too. Im dealing with them again right now, so id say go for it.

i was talkin to him about those and the new stuff they will be carrying
the kits for the doors are supposedly made by the people who make the VDI kits which are top quality...dont know for sure if thats true or he was just blowing smoke
