spray it with spray paint
how does it come off? just those 4 bolts?
Yes the 4 bolts. Btw where are you from?
The four bolts, then remove the electric connector on the side, then it pops up.
that lime green and black part?
make sure you use the right kind of paint too. you want a enamel not a lacquer, 2-3 coats of clear, wet sand between coats. And clean the @!#$ out of it before you paint it otherwise it will chip really easily.
Thank you i just had a hater neighbour come over dont be taking crap apart if its not broken don't fix it.lol
as i was taking the lime green and black piece out i turned around for a second the the lime green piece musy have slipped out and went do on something and i grab the longest screw driver and put alittle petrolem jelly on the end of it to make it stick and it worked.
Not sure what color to paint it yet.

whats the other base color you going to put with it?
i was going to have a all white car or maybe black would like the auto shade vents to be white and the side mirrors to be white too.
Paint it black, and then paint over the 2.4L Twin Cam white. Then clear.
How I did it on my old gt was I used engine enamel as a base coat over the whole thing. Then I used enamel hobby paint, the stuff used to paint model cars and stuff, and painted it by hand over the raised letters, then cleared over top of everything with engine enamel clear. Worked great, and didn't chip. Looked awesome.
Mine was black base with red letters.
I think the white letters would look pretty awesome.
sweet just have to keep my neighbour across the side on being a hater and coming over if its not broken dont fix it.
what are the steps on doing that now? i know step one is take the cam cover off.
Tell him to stfu, your not fixing anything, your making it your own.
Steps would be:
1. Remove the idi cover (that's what it's actually called. It's not a cam cover, it's an idi cover. Just fyi)
2. Lightly sand off any stubborn dirt or oil residue. Don't score the metal, so use a high sandpaper grade, 220 or so. Maybe 300. Rememer, you don't want to remove any metal, just clean.
3. Wash it. Regular soap and water. Then rinse it again. Keep the water on the top and away from the coil underneath. Let it dry completely.
4. Make sure it's dry. It will feel a little rough to the touch because it's cast iron (I believe anyway).
5. Once dry, get your paint ready. make sure there is no dirt or anything left on it, and if there isn't, then spray it with the base coat engine enamel. Spray using light coats over the whole thing. Don't try to cover the whole thing in one coat. Use light coats. It will come out much better. Follow the instructions on the can for how long to wait between coats, and when it will be completely dry.
6. Once the base coat has dried, time for the pain staking painting by hand. Take your time with this. You can paint it however you want, just on the tops, all of the raised letter and sides, whatever you want. This is pretty obvious I think. Get a paint brush, sit down in a comfy chair, and start painting.
7. Once the lettering is dry, then clear coat the cover. Use the engine enamel again. and again, use light coats, and probably 3-5 coats. follow the instructions on the can again.
8. Once dry, put the idi cover back on and tell your neighbor to shove off.
true that,
Sweet i cant wait to do that thanks,
