I'm in need of a getrag tranny that came in 2000 and 2001 (assuming I got the dates correct) model year J-bodies that still had a 2.4 motor.
I'm planning a swap and the first thing on the list is well the tranny LOL.
As long as it's in good shape and doesn't have a crap load of miles on it... I'll be fine...
Also... the cheaper I can find one the better
and it needs to be in reasonable driving distance of Owatonna, MN (the truck get like 8mpg)
Just thought I'd ask here before I start checking salvage yards...

Also 2002 had the LD9 in it....

Hopefully all 2000's came with getrags because thats going to be what year I tell the parts places my car is.

I have been trying to fiqure out if it really does just bolt right in where my Izuzu is without cutting or welding mounts since I have a 2.4, but I havn't gotton an answer yet.
OK... thanx for the help guys.... but I've finally decided what I'm going to do and start picking up and ordering the parts today....
It turns out that the swap involves more cutting and welding than I want to do (I don't want to do that at all), and all I really need is a good working tranny.
I'm going to just get a damn rebuilt git for the Izuzu... tear that sombitch apart and rebuild it myself. Doing it that way will also save me several hundred dollars which I can spend on a better clutch and flywheel. I'm also going to order both GM shop manuals (regular one plus the tranny one) from Helm to make sure I get the right directions.
then throw a NVG or HM282 in it, it bolts up, all you have to do is make a "bracket" for one shift cable.

I was going to put a NVG in it but didn't.... right now I'm battling between rebuilding / replacing my tranny, and getting the stuff on my Motorcycle done.
It's getting nice out and I wan't to get my bike done, and I can still drive my car the way it is.... and money cant really go into both at the same time and get eather of them done right away. Argh I need more cash. I'm probably just going to break down, get my seat, new tires, and find the set of bars for my bike for now, and finsh the car after. Maybee I'll take the bike to the track instead.... I've always wondered what it runs.
