Sweet.. I was wondering if anyone was going to post pic of HIN.. I forgot my camera.... I need to start making a checklist before I go to meets.
I went to HIN and personally I thought it was the biggest waste of $25 and $10 to park that I can think of. There was a lot of really nice cars but with the lights off, strobe lights everywhere and so many different stages all with music so loud I couldn't even think I couldn't even really look at any cars. HIN is more about the tuner "lifestyle" than it is about the cars, and I don't know anyone that it is a tuner that lives a life that is a non-stop rave. The stereo type of the "tuner lifestyle" really bothers me.
I am all about seeing pretty girls but I went to a car show to see cars not girls in swimsuits, if I wanted see girls I would have paid $10 to go to the strip club and seen naked girls.
But whatever, that is my little rant, thank you for reading, I am sure that many will disagree with me. I guess its something I can now say I have done so its not all bad.
P.S. Streetdreamz I saw your car there, looking good!
WOW, writing that made me feel really old.
To be honest.....................
I felt the same way.
I like good old fashioned car shows that are outside, and full of performance oriented cars. Hell, I was the only one drooling all over the WRC Subaru rally car.... LITERALLY. If I could have or drive any car there... that would be it. If I where to say I would kill for a chance to be a rally driver... I wouldn't be exaggeration.
Plus I really don't need to be any place with a metal detector for various reasons.
oldman may win the grandpa smurf trophy with out a doubt.. but I'm getting too old for this kiddie stuff too. I'll be 27 next month but I feel 40 some days. I'll always enjoy going to meets.. but this yuppie stuff just doesn't do it for me anymore. (I'm not sure it ever did).
Keavin is pretty cool though... don't let the smurf thing offend ya or anything... I'm just fooling around.
btw.... the spell check on this site actually recognizes the word smurf as a word
I didn't even take any pics, everytime I went to take on someone walked in front the camera and then I just quit trying.
Thanks Weebel, grandpa Smurf indeed
The show was fun and I would probably go again but I feel the same as you all do about the "Life Style" nightclub atmosphere. Wasn't for me or my 15yr old son he was glad to get out of the droning thump. I compleatly missed that that car was a Sunfire because I kind of remember seeing it, maybe if the lights had been on I would have noticed more things. Of course when you as old as I am the eye site starts failing.
I thought that it was odd that the Sunfire was a 95 to 01 model and had an Ecotec in it... most people that only care about winning trophies with fiberglass usually don't do engine swaps. That would have had to have a 2.2 or 2.4 in it stock.
A lot of the cars looked really cool, but a part of me cries every time I see a performace car like a Supra turned into a trailer queen. That thing should be outside doing burnouts in the parking lot, not sitting there with unused chrome brake rotors.
btw... I'm glad you took a picture of the Lambo with the doors open... I couldn't tell if it was a Gallardo or Murcelago and it was driving me crazy... now I know it was the latter, since Gallardos dont have jacknife doors.
And Keavin..... It's cool so see some one around your age interested in cars like ours. There is way too many people that only have the "4 cylinders suck and V8's rule" mentality. Now that I've started modding my car.. even my parents give 4-cylindere the respect they deserve.
Also just to let ya know... (wich I'm sure you already do), even though I joke around about age and stuff, I really don't think about it.. I work with people my dads age, and I talk with them like we have both been on the planet for the same length of time. Maybee it's because I tend to have more in common with people twice my age.
Its all good Weebel, no problem. I work with all younger guys then me so I've learned to interact with all ages and seem to have more in commom with them then people my age. I've been into sport compact and tuner cars since 1995 but I do have a '69 Camaro that I've been "Restoring" since 1986, it's still a work in progress. To be honest I've had more fun working on the Cav and have owned mine since '98
I have no problem with trailer queen show cars, but your right I really hate high performance goodies on these cars that will never be used, its just expensive car jewlery
Great pics Lance wish more of mine had turned out.
this is BADASS with the 5 tv's in front of the windshield!!
this supra was at john haley motorsports where i was helping tune a grand am with a built and boosted 2.4.
most every bolt on this car was chromed, i saw everything laying out on a stand, just chrome, everything under the car chrome, exhaust and all. haley claims this supra will put out 1400hp... just saddens me that it will never be used to its potential
I gave up on the idea of building a show car a long time ago since I'm gunna drive the crap out of any car I own.
Hey keavin... you have a 69 Camaro? Man I'de like to have one of them.... You need to let us know what you have in that thing. I love old muscle cars too I'm not just a tuner fanatic. Man... the idea of cruising around in a hopped up 396SS with a 4 on the floor capable of lifting the front tires off the gound is a dream I've had for the longest time.
Maybee some day I'll be able to afford the dream car in my profile... although my Sunfire will still be my favorite car no matter what I own.
Even though I'm for all go and no show... I still had fun.... and it's amazing what people can do to cars nowadays.

It Is RS 4spd car with a built 350, I updated my car profile with all the details of it. I've owned the car a long time and only driven it less then 500 miles, it's been mostly apart working on it but I haven't been real motivated. I just need to put the new quick ratio steering gear box in it then it will be drivable again.
