I was at work today thinkin about doin a point system for meets...to sum it up..this means you will get a certain amount of points for attending meets...and at the end of the year the person or persons with the most points will get a pool of money for somethin to buy for there car or whatever they wish to spend it on...
this might be a stupid idea but i think its kinda kewl...
anyways..heres what i kinda came up with at work...for attending meets you will receive 5 pts...also for showing up at the meet at the scheduled meet time you will receive another 1 pt...and i also was considering giving 1pt to whoever leaves the meet last...if the meet is held at daves house for example...he would automatically get 5pts for attending, 1 pt for being on time and 1pt for being the last one to leave...another person or persons would also get 1 pt for being the last one besides him also...
the reason i would like to give out the single points is to try to eliminate any ties we may have at the end of the year...
another thing i would like to do is have everyone who attends a meet to contribute a dollar to a pot which will be the pool of money that the winner will recieve...oh and just because you may not have a dollar or whatever doesn't mean you aren't gonna attend the meet...i or someone else will add the dollar for you...
me personally i would rather throw $5 in per person at each meet just to get the pot up there for the person who has the most points at the end of the year...but i guess we can talk about that in this thread...
i was thinking the beginning and ending dates should be spring "april 2nd meet" to winter "first sat of december meet"
if this sounds like a good idea i will also keep a running total for pts for everyone on, which will be posted on this website...
but like i said...this is just a rough draft so far so im up for suggestions or thoughts of what everyone thinks about this...i just thought that this would give us some more insentive to show up to as many meets as possible and ON TIME
oh and try to stay a little bit late for some
so let me know what you guys think...stupid, good, etc...suggestions or whatever...thnx
oh and if you guys are confused about the wording or dont understand something...we will try to clear it up as the thread continues...
one more thing...the april 2nd meet as stated up above will be counted towards this point system...

obviously... being that i live and work with the guy... i know about this kinda stuff before it gets posted so i obviously agree with it... BUT... figured i'd add my 10 cents anyway...
i do agree that it is a very good idea... just for the soul reason that there is finally some type of insentive to show up to the meets beyond the reason of personal satisfaction... wich is obviously enough but as long as were all gonna be there... why not add some more reason to show up...
i like the pool idea too because being that were all "auto enthuseists"... it gives an easier opportunity to mod your own vehichle for person who makes an effort toshow up regularly but cant afford "flip style mods".... fine example: ME!!!... lol...

Good Idea.
The only things that I would happen to disagree or have a problem with are the following:
- Getting People to pay-for example, say Roy or someone from far away comes to a meet once or twice, what are their reasonings for even contributing?
- Attending meets- Goes with #1, not all the MNJ members are able to make it to every meet, much less do they want to.
Besides that, you mentioned why come to the meet besides "personal satisfaction." Many members, myself included, come to get parts installed, which is a great reason to attend.
On another note, I am/would be somewhat offended considering the amount of contributions to the site/club costs as well. (Thanks to those that have contributed in the past)
Even tho I'm not an MN-J I like the idea. GMCI has done this in the past, they call them survivor cruises n we have like 7-8 thru out the year.
One thing I think you guys should do, is open it up to everyone, not just the MN-Js...I've been to a few meets and I'll never be an MN-J because I live in WI. I say if you come to a MN meet, you should be entered....but that's just .02

Well, I like the idea
The only thing I can see would be the fact that some people know for sure they will not win and so they might not want to participate since the pot would technicaly take money away from their mods lol. But I know coming this fall I will become very poor lol and doubt I will ever be the last to leave and most likly leave early so I wouldn't get as many points. I would participate in it besides that.
But maybe instead of giving it all to one person maybe make it go towards the website or other MNJ stuff like food or something (Dues) or maybe make this a different thing I dont know lol

not at all a bad idea i wouldnt mind, it would be a decent incentive to try and make more of them, as long as i could afford it. and id still put a dollar in the pot, figure at most it would be $12 the whole yr a person.

Its a cool idea, but maybe just have it for Major events because I know im not going to be able to drive there that much .. but i try! .. still seems like a cool idea tho
yeah guys i was only thinkin about having it at meets which is only once a month...
lurch....the reason for contributing is because the host of the meet was nice enough to host and give people a place to get together and bs with each other...
like i said though....if it doesn't sound like its thought out enough then lets do some more brain storming on it....

Lurch- i along with everyone else i think MUCH appreciates the fact of everything you do and have done for the Mn J's... i wouldnt want you to take offense to this at all...

I agree with Lurch, most people's incentive to come is to install stuff and just hang out.
On the other hand...
If you think of it as less of an "incentive" to come, and more of a "gamble" it might go over better. Cuz technically we would be "putting money into a pot" and gaining points.
I like the idea. I'd go for it. But again I think if you look at it as more of a game or competition it would not only be more fun, but seem less "demanding" in a sense.

i think that even WI people should be inculded. I would , and u can hold me to it, drive out there once a month. even to the citys. you guy were awsome. I may be changing jobs soon, so i am not sure i will make every meet. and for the record i was first to the mall. I did a lap around the mall and didn't see anybody........... I don't win at a lot of things lol

Dyl I think Its a good idea as far as The MN J"s site contribution goes I think everyone should make some sort of a contribution as a member of the MN J"S you should be required to make one...Lurch we all apreciate the work and money you put into "Our" site we should be helping out a little..
As far as the points system I think its a good idea and I would put it to you this way who ever wants to be in the points needs to make contributions at the meets..
Another idea would be a trophy maybe or something of that matter but those are just more ideas...

I think its a good idea and I probably won't win considering I haven't made meets in a long time cause of my job. but I'm quitting once summer starts and going back to either construction or landscaping and make some really @!#$in money. I'd say to go with contributing something to the mn-j and maybe a little something for the person that gets the most points. later guys
