When I am driving and I am in 5th gear, and i push the clutch in to put the car in neutal and stop, the RPM's drop to 250 and sometimes the car will catch itself and jump back to 900 and other times it will die.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have an intake and cat back exhaust system with a high flow cat. I am thinking it is a sensor, but am not sure.
Please help

Simple. your putting a good load on the car. so when your in 5th its using X amount of Fuel to run. when you suddleny take that load away your car Leans out then catchs itself before the stall. The slow respose could be from a bad sensor.
How could I diagnose the problem? I have access to almost any tool. I was thinking about hooking it up to a snap on scan tool, would that tell me the problem?

Blip the throttle

Actually I've had the same problem, it s the IAT sensor, the wires are like 24 gauge or something like that.........extremely small and they actually break in the plug into the sensor. So if you have moved it around enough, it will soon break on you and you will get a check engine light. The wires are weak, I just replaced the tiny wires with some beefier ones at the plug, spliced em in and called it a day. Even after all that though it still wants to stall out sometime, so I just blip the throttle.....................it works.
