a little help
Saturday, June 03, 2006 4:27 PM
I don't know where this goes so i figured I just put it in here since I am from MO lol When I turned on my car the other night the ABS and Emergency parking lights came on and stayed on. I figured they go away once I started driving and they never did. They are still on and its been 5 days now. Any ideas what it is? I also changed head light bulbs so I don't know if that matters at all. Thank you much.

It soulds like an ABS control unit. If the ABS light is one that means somethign in the ABS system is messed up, usually a sesor or wiring that rubber through on a wheel ect... at that measn is the abs will not function (and usually that means no more tracation control as well) but if your brake light is on it means your at risk of your brakes not working. ABS light = no big deal brake light = get it checked out ASAP. I'd say try autozone where they do the free scans and see if they will scan the ABS, if theres faults post them up hear, if it can't cominicate then the control module is @!#$. Not sure how it is replace the control module for cavis but I knwo at work (VW) the module wasn't available alone, you hade to get the whole ABS pump and everythign all as one unit which was big big big money, it was liek a $2500 part, just recently they started offering the control unit seperate so its done to like the $500-$600 range. But yeah see if they can scan it and see what happens. Personally I've never worked on a car that had brake and abs light that wasn't a module but you never know.

it may be somethign as stupid as the brake fluid being low causing the brake light and a dead sensor causing the ABS light.
