INSTALL DAY!
Wednesday, February 01, 2006 9:48 PM
hey guys...thought we might have a nice local meet/cookout/install day. I'm thinking sometime like the 2nd or 3rd weekend of February. Anyone else interested? I got a lot of things that need to be installed and could use some help...willing to pay in food and beer if that's what it takes.

Anyone else interested let me know.

What day? 12/19th? and what do you need help installing? I normally work durring the week ends but i have been getting sundays off. I just am curious to see what needs to be put on so i know if i will be learning something new. all i need to install is trans mounts. I broke my floor jack about a month ago, so i would be down to do this.

let's see. i personally have....crank and alternator pulleys, head and headstuds, have to swap the cams between heads, and maybe replace my trans mount bushings (the front one O'd out). Hopefully by then I'll have a few more parts too.

Anyone else got parts that need going on and need help with? List away.

I may be up for it If it's anytime soon tho, we'll need a big heated garage Supposed to be hi-20's and low-30's all this week Damnit mother nature, I've got stuff to install!! I need warm weather!!

List that I can think of:
Lower engine mount
*New* suspension
Front end conversion once the H/L's come in
---Also need the hood & bumper, but I may have both of those soon
Interior (will wait till spring/summer)
Exhaust inc header
Shave (after I buy welder)
---Finish installing poppers, etc
Paint
I think that's it??

Looks like I'm gonna have a fun spring

well it will more than likely be at my house unless someone wants to volunteer there garage. I have a 2 car heated garage so mine isn't too bad. Just dont have a huge supply of tools.

the 19th would work for me if it works for Darkstars. As far as I know he is the only local to have retimed the cams on the ecotec correctly and I need to get this head in.

My tuning time table depends on when we do this so let's get it set...

Is Sunday the 19th good for everyone that wants to come? We can start about 10AM or so and work until we get to stopping points on everyones cars.

mine shouldnt take too long, i should have 4 RK Sport Coilovers and a Ken 2.2 Brace. Seems pretty quick and simple. and whats the solution to tools, have a lot or could you make a list incase you dont have the sockets or impact wrenches or torque wrenches needed.

Re: INSTALL DAY!

i have a @!#$ TON of sockets in all 3 sizes. Just went out and invested in those. I also have a few sets of wrenchs (ratcheting and normal.) No air tools or compressor I ahve one big torque wrench too.

I basically have hand tools until Sears gets me the right damn box and I can clean up and get my compressor in place.

im just thinking ahead it would help for someone to bring a compressor and impact wrench and impact sockets. my suspensions may be a little rusted, the parts that hold it in that is. So it may be tough to take apart. What about anti-sieze? WD 40. PB Blaster, oil dry if needed, jack, jack stands(8 or so) i know for mine i would need PB Blaster which i can bring, sockets and if someone can bring an impact, or a big breaker bar or maybe a normal wrench could get it. and i would need some jackstands as well

^ IMO, you oughta start using that PBB a few days before the Install Day (if you have enough warning, of course). It'll make the bolts slide out like butter when you go in there with a ratchet I oughta pick some up for one of the bolts on my lower engine mount, I couldn't get it out at all last fall. Bolt is chewed to h311 now too I was told one old school "candle trick" but didn't have time to try it out.

The suspension is on ryans car still, hes gonna give me a ride in it first., i plan on spraying my stuff the day before to help loosen it up if possible. its never been taken off so it might not be too bad.

the 19th shoudl work for me, I'd say swap the head ahead of time if all you need me for is the cam timing, its preaty straight forward

Re: INSTALL DAY!

19th looks good for me as well. I still am waiting for my sway bar clamps to come from gmparts direct, and i dont know what size bolts i need for the clamps.( still looking ) Otherwise i will just do trans mounts. Does anybody have spring compressor or should i bring mine?

looks like we might have a nice turnout, it would be cool to meet some new people as well.

I'm too tired and sick to bother lookin' at your profile, but I'm pretty sure you have a coupe. You're very lucky if you do Just ask Ken2.2 how tough the bolts are on my car, lmao. I was hammering on my suspension like all hell when I dropped it last summer but Ken installed my SFB for me, and he was less than thrilled with the bolts haha.
