wrong header
Friday, December 09, 2005 10:11 AM
I bought a header off of ebay that was supposed to be 96-99 2.4 So i took it to the shop this morning to have it put on and the guys tells me that it ain't the right header. I was like what, he said the instructions and everything else are for my car but the actual header won't fit. So we went onto the pacesetter site and it said that the header was for a sunfire. So i got a sunfire header with cavalier 2.4 instructions and such. What should I do? any help would be greatly appreciated

he looked at it and said well this wont clear the firewall. he wouldn't show me. he had alot of cars to get to today so maybe thats why he said that, plus he had to get mine done before i had class in the afternoon. if he cant on monday i will take someplace else and get raped for $200 installation

umm, if the guy can't figure out how to install the header that IS meant for your car, do you really want him doing it in the first place?

It's almost christmas break dood. I go to school full time, work full time, and still have time for over 600 posts a month on here, putting my motor together, and doing whatever I want on the weekends. You'll find time to spend 3 hours or less installing a header.

Anyway if you think it will take you 3 hours than give yourself 6 just to be sure because nothing ever goes as planned

yeah... the header WON'T clear the firewall; without some persuasion. IT IS a BITCH to get installed. I put mine in myself, then took it to the exhaust shop to get them to weld it up for me. For a while, I didn't think it was possible to get that SOB in there... but I didn't let a little (LOT?) clearance issue get me down.

It's not a drop in, like on the 2.2, but it will go in there.
