Ok here is my problem i just traded my 91 cavalier for a 97 2.4L Twin Cam that has a knock under the hood. Me and my dad traced down the knock to around the cams or at least that's where it's the loudest. I'm hoping that some one has had this problem in the past and can tell me what it is. If you have any remarks for me just let me know if i'm close or what ever.
it might be the timing chain.
done checked that. my neighbor is saying that it's the cam bearings or a bent or stuck valve.
hit up a junk yard and just replace the whole head. you can find one for cheap if you look hard enough.
if you had a stuck valve you'd probably be hearing the piston slapping it over and over and over... cam bearings wouldn't necessarily cause a knock.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
well thx for the help i found out what the problem is i think... i'm taking off the cams tonight to replace some things i'll let you all know how it goes....
