Hey guys i just bought a 2.2l 96 cavalier. It has 147k miles and it runs good. It has some lifter/valve noise, but i hear that normal. Is there any routine adjustment for the valves/lifters on these motors? Any other preventative maintenance so i can get the most life out of it beside the regular oil and coolant checks? Let me know. Thanks!
Ive read that using a torque wrench to re torque the lifters can reduce the ticking noise? Any write up on this?
What does the noise sound like? Cuz the timing chain tensioner likes to go bad on those and start making quite a bit of noise.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
