I'm probably going to be the owner of one of these within the next week or so. I can't find any install info on it. All I can gather is I need a crank signal and an external coil. Do I have to run an msd box? And which is the easiest box to run on a j? Ill be adapting this to an 01 w/turbo 2.4 if I need to run an msd box. If not I have a carborated build in mind for the future and different purpose.
As far as I knew this was only for the Eco. Read the gm build book
I know it's only for the Eco according to msd but it will bolt up to the 2.4 no problem. They share the same power steering. Then it is just a matter of electronics, the early ecos even shared the same pattern crank trigger wheel.
Not sure specifically about how the distributer handles the ckp signal, but there is a difference between the ld9/Eco...not sure if it will effect you or not. On the LD9, the ckp wires go to the ICM, then a ckp relay signal is fed to the PCM. For the Eco, the ckp wires go right to PCM, then the PCM feeds a signal to the ICM based of the ckp reference and the "fake" cam sync signal it generates.
Just throwing it out there.
