Replacing AC Hardlines with Steel Braded AC Hose?

I want to keep the AC in the car, as its a DD, but want to reroute the ac lines to clean things up. Has anyone replaced the hardlines with Steel Braided Lines? Any downside to this?

Doubt you'll find suppliers that have adequate fittings that will seal R134, and hose that will stand up to refrigerant pressures, temperatures, and not to mention the refrigerant itself... 134 will eat rubber alive...

What people dont often realize is how thick the walls on refrigerant hose is too so that it withstands the pressure.

Having said that, there may be companies that make kits to retrofit older/show cars with braided line... Might want to check Eastwood or The filling Station

Have you thought about just polishing the stock lines to make them less of an eyesore??

Out of curiosity i called a local shop that did my oil cooler lines for my bravada. They have ss braided lines that are made to handle refridgerant and able to hold upto 1500 psi. Waiting to hear back with a price. Philly D. Funny you ask. I actually started to. Before thinking about relocating it. I can myself in the section i did. If relocating the lines becomes a hassle, ill just finish polishing them.

I'm thinking about trying to route the lines like the alero.

I looked at using alero/grandam lines. The connections aren't the same on our compressor and to the body.

Only thing I can think of is welding our fittings on their lines.

I will be looking to do this on my 3800 swap to make things easier for routing. You can get them from Jegs
