So i was just thinking, how much HorsePower can a 2.2 acually handel with its stock internals befor u need to replace things. i would just take a guess anything under 200 HP befor u need to upgrade, like if u turbo'd the engine with stock internals.
Ask QWK LN2 (P&P Tuning). I think I remember something in the 300s.
PRND321 Till I DIE
Old Motor: 160whp & 152ft/lbs, 1/4 Mile 15.4 @88.2
M45 + LD9 + 4T40-E, GO GO GO
It depends on alot of things. But 274whp has been made on a 2.2/2200/LN2 with boost.

oh wow, tough lil engines. so pretty much u can slap a turbo and all the right exhaust and intake stuff and wont even have to touch internals. thats surpising but really cool! hopefully down the road i can put a turbo on mine.
Rods, crank and mains are solid (for stock). Weak point is the pistons, not a lot of meat before the compression ring. I broke one bone stock that way. Needless to say it was my fault and not the engine's, but still. To make that kind of power without trouble a really good tune is a must (as always).

Uhh....... go ahead and try that. Post back and let us know how well it works.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick

choke point is the head. without a good P&P, Turbo won't yield many results.
I need a new sig.

So you would consider going from roughly 100whp to 274whp not good results?

I'll agree that a good pnp would help the ln2 but when using forced induction it becomes less of an issue with the relitivly low power numbers that most turbo ln2's will make. Now if the op was trying to surpass Ryans numbers then I'd say sure pnp is a must. With a proper tune most of the jbody motors can take a fair amount of power over stock.
