cobalt injectors?
Tuesday, February 14, 2012 5:29 AM
I've got an 03 cav and figured out that my random miss fire is do to a rouged injector. What I want to know is what I need to put stock cobalt injectors in. they arent ss injectors they are just for the same 2.2 echo tec. Thanks in advance.

No, they are physically the same size as 02 eco injectors and shorter than 03-05 eco injectors. They move more fuel, which requires you to retune your ECU.

You may need to buy my injector bungs that I make.

I got injectors that will go into a 06 to 2010 cobalt ls and g5. So ill still need to tune with that? What bung things?

Well, if you install them in the rail and there is a quarter inch of slack yes you will need them, they are aluminum injector bungs that go into the stock location and allow for the fitment of cobalt ss injectors or other injectors.

The 03+ injectors are smaller than the 02.

Look at them again the 03+ injectors ARE longer than the 02s. That is why we need to run spacers or mod the fuel rail to run LSJ injectors and 02s do not. I have installed LSJ injectors in both year cars.....

Bad wording on my part. I meant smaller as in less fuel flow. I could have swore I saw in a GM service manual that 03+ Eco's had 19 or 21# injectors and 02's had 24#

Yeah man not trying to be rude but I dnt have time for them to ship to me. Its so bad that if your in 5th doing about 45 and you just let off the gas it jerks so bad you almost get whiplash. I know its the injector cuz I had the car running and unplugged the harness from it and the idle got a lot better. Its just starting to piss me off. Im tired of fixing this thing.

Didn't have time for what the injectors to be shipped? I have an extra set of cobalt ss injectors and I can make some fuel injector bungs for them. Pm me if interested.

jason, what do you charge for those bungs? are these the alternate method instead of using the washers? i have stage 2 (42.5lb) blue tipped injectors coming in the mail for my 04 fuel rail, and i was about to go pick up a bunch of washers

Yeah where the f*** do you put those so called bungs? Cuz they wont go on the fuel rail by the mounting bolt/holes.
Is there any way to make them work? Like step by step directions here ppl.

The bungs go into the head and sit underneath the fuel injectors. I used the factory GM plastic ones with washers underneath because the aftermarket ones weren't available at the time. I haven't changed them because they still work and haven't leaked. *BUT* if the bungs were available when I did my injectors, I would have bought them.

Doesnt that mess up how the injector spits fuel into the head?

No. All it does is bring the bung up closer to the injector, sealing it.
