i have a 96 2.2 and i hear you cant have computer done.. but i also hear you can take the 97-98-99-200 coil pack and some sensor and swap it out and then i will be able to is there truth to that thanks
On. A 96 you'll have to repin the Harness so it is setup like a 97 then you can tune ia hpt.
Blew up the isuzu tranny in my 96, just bought a 97 5 speed donor car for the tranny, and also for the wire harness and ecu so i can tune... took a while to find the right car
I have a 97 ECU that I don't need. You can have it if you pay shipping.
The main problem, as already pointed out, is that the 96 ECU has 3 plugs in it, and the 97 ECU has 4 plugs. So, you'll need to get a 97 ECU harness if you want to swap to the 97 ECU.
Do anyone else know if the 96 came with the Cam sensor? That is needed for the 97 ECU right?
I have a 95 and I know I don't have the cam sensor. (plus my ECU is two plugs, so the 96 is really a one off year in terms of the ECU connections)
96 did come with a cam sensor. 95 was the year without.
