Has anyone chucked that @!#$ty heat shield between the catback and the gas tank or has everyone reinstalled it?
I left it on mine, and every J-body person I helped.

I have taken one of them off. Really is a pain in the ass. Without it the tank comes down and out soo much easier. Mine still has it.

On my first cav I took it off and left it off, no issues with leaving it off.
His main thing was, its already off, is it worth re-installing it again. I didnt on the ol 2200, but the eco I left it on. In my opinion, stock exhaust, it wont be enough heat to cause an issue.
i chucked mine several years ago... all it did was drag the ground... on the stock exhaust i had no issues... my current exhaust still has no issues, but it has been fully ceramic coated...
I took mine off. I could not get the tank out with the stupid shield there. Mine was riveted on so I drilled them out. Were all years like this? You guys just re rivet it back on?

my sister's 04 has the riveted on shield but it's super rusty and falling apart, I'm just gonna toss that piece of crap.
I drilled and re rivited the one i did on my GFs 2200

I drilled the rivits and used some big self tappers that I cut down on the old ohv car. The eco's I got the tank out without pulling the shield some how and got it back up
I trimmed my heat shield when I had to remove the tank for the fuel pumps I've replaced.
With the last exhaust that I installed I completely removed it and no issues. I consider it weight reduction at it's finest.
