Noises on motor swap, video link included

OK, so I started working on a motor swap in my 95 cavalier, 2.2l. I swapped in a 97 LD9 2.4(yes i know its a OBD2 motor, I did the OBD2 swap as well). motor is runnin, so far I have 2 code being thrown, a MAP sensor related code and the Crankshaft Position Sensor Variable Relearn. i replaced the MAP and the motor seems ro be running a little smoother. theres beend a knocking noise, i thought the noise was coming from the power steering, vibration felt strong there, i swapped it for another but the noise is still there. also a grinding noise when the motor idles down after a rev. ive replaced the tensioner, and got the chain nice and tight, following the book step by step. any advice?

sounds like timing chain slap, but wait for somebody who has more experience with that engine chime in.

alright, i was planning on getting everything else done on it, then take it to a shop to have the iming chain related tasks done, Ive redone that timing system about 6 times now and its getting very old.

I did one at work that came with a faulty timing chain tensioner and it sounded like that.

alright, thank you, been working on this project since january, im just ready to get it drivable. do you know of anyone who has done the 95 LD9 swap? i know that theres alot of debateing between the 2.3 and 2.4, but i was just curious if anyones pulled this swap off.

I have not done this swap before. I am a 95 guy though. lol. It also seems like your belt tensioner is also shot. Not timing tensioner... even though it may be shot as well. So did you swap the entire wiring harness... along with the ecu and cluster? I know the 95 fuel pump is different... but if it is running, then I guess that is not a problem. lol

and it does sound like chain slap as well. The chain might also be stretched if it is original.

i swapped the wiring harness for a 99 z24, i modified the harness to support the 96-98 LD9 set up, the fuel pump is off a 96 2.2, works fine tho, but i have a brand new fuel pump that i bought for my car when it still supported the 2.2. i plan to tap a hole for the sensor then seal it up. from what i see thats the only difference between the 2 fuel pumps. i replaced the idler/tensioner pully. though theres still a jump in the belt. im pretty sure that i @!#$ up on the chain tensioner so im gonna just take it to a shop, the timing chain dissasemble is getting annoying as hell. how was the transition from the 2.3 to the 2.4? anything really get in the way?

Hard to tell with the belt making soo much noise, but I would guess the tensioner is not right. Depending which one is in it that could be the problem.

I'll add that (maybe) one of your pulleys is shot, check your pulleys for any type of play too.
