2.0 lsj internals

What has to be done to the eco to swap the 2.0L rods and pistons in. Can i use lsj rods or pistons. I remember reading somewhere you can use something but some other part has to be modified. Wouldn't this be the way to go if i could get some rods/pistons for like 100 bucks? Rather worry about a piston going at 300 then a rod at 250

the LSJ has longer rods, so the stroke of the L61 crank will push the pistons beyond the top of the deck.

to use the LSJ pistons, GM used to sell specific rods that were shorter and accepted the 23mm wristpin of the LSJ pistons.

the LSJ pistons will not fit the L61 rods.. the wristpin on the L61 is 21mm, the LSJ wristpin is 23mm.

is there enough material to remove 2 mm to allow for this or is that crazy talk or is it not worth the cost that one would see by doin it

I think people would rather put a bushing in the piston to decrease the wristpin to 21mm rather than hog out the rod (pretty sure there isn't enough material to open it up).

regardless, you still have the issue of the compression height difference. it won't be as bad with the 2.2 rods, but supposedly the compression height of the piston is designed for the stroke and rod length. changing the piston may upset the geometry and cause the bottom end to bind.

I have not tested this first hand however. I know for a fact you will have issues with the deck height though.
