soo ive read alot of posts on here about the le5 intake manifold which im assuming is the 2.4 eco manifold.... i was also told that the saab 9-3 aluminum intake manifold will work.... im ust wondering if it does and if anyone has any feedback on it.... im currently N/A with hp tuners and a 7500 rev limiter..... i know everyone says the le5 intake leans out at high rpms with the stock injectors but im thinking long term for boost in spring.... i just want to use the better of the two im not making a 400hp race car but in the boost game the engine breathing makes everything..... im going to use the saab turbo and run 12 or so psi.... and please no need to tell me that you cant run that kinda boost stock because fact is you can a friends ran it on his daily driver for the last 4 years with the supercharger tune....
LE5 all the way, every day, in every way! (BTW, I was the first to use it on a boosted car.

im sure it works alot better but its also plastic... the saab mani is aluminum and was on a boosted car.... im afraid since im na n stock fuel system at 7500 it will lean out too much to try both of them.... i have my pe at 2 grand for now.... it pulls really hard top end right now so idk what to do...
the saab 9-3 manifold sucks for n/a
stock or LE5 is your best bet.
I'm shocked your not leaning out now running 7500 rpm. But yeah LE5 all the way. It's hands down my favorite mod to date after I swapped injectors and tuned it. So much more balls from about 3500 up. BTW what mods you have running 7500rpms.
BTW roofy how did the LE5 manifold perform with boost. If I ever do my saab turbo stuff I am going to keep my LE5 manofold on the car.

you could also look into modifying the stock manifold on your car. if you have a dremel you can open up the ports that meet the head on the intake manifold and remove the "lip" from the connection to the throttle body. expect a nice little gain up top without a tune.

but it wont ever flow as much as an LE5 manifold

very true phil.
simply giving him another option to look into if tuning is not available yet for him.

It consideraly leaned out my AFR's under boost, almost a full point (From 11.9 to average of 12.6-12.7 under boost, IIRC) but I noticed alot more power, even without dyno proof. I know the old butt-dyno isn't accurate but it was a noticeable gain. Even now with it being fully tuned, my torque is higher than my horsepower, which doesnt happen too often on a modified small 4 cylinder.

well im not gonna even bother since i cant port the runners so id be wasting time...... as for leaning out i probly am haha i dont have a wideband and i havent gotten to dyno it......all i have done to the car is a intake no cat a cat back stock exhaust manifold and hp tuners all i did with hp tuners is raise my rev limiter and speed limiter and drop pe to 2000 rpm.... i know it should be 0 but i was hoping for a lil help with traction but that didnt happen. win some ya lose some.... but i can get the le5 manifold for like 100 bucks... dont you have to swap the tb tho since im assuming the 2.4 is electric throttle? my injectors were running like 80% duty cycle at 7500 rpms but i have no idea how lean it was....
new ? wouldnt the 2.4 injectors work better for na since i really have no major mods? i ran 14.8 at 93 without hpt and now i have no idea with hpt

Hmm. I have a set of 550's for mine when I get my saab stuff installed. Hopefully they will be big enough.
OP wow 7500 on stock valve train. Man your brave. How long has it been this way? Did you do any ve tuning? You can get some out of it just ve tuning as well. Damn just noticed you said 80# duty cycle. Man your playing with fire now. You need bigger injectors now. Lsj or saab green tops are perfect. I have a 02 and I have some saab green tops and they were a direct replacement clips and all.

2.4 all the way, i run one on my car aswell.
7500 is SUPER high with stock components. i rev mine till 7 with cams and numberous other mods. If i remember correctly stock components sign off at around 5500 or so rpm, reving any higher is useless and also dangerous for the motor...

i know its high but its not really a big deal if i break it haha.... i actually pull pretty signficantly reving to 7500. the only gear its really useless is 4th..... i ordered the le5 manifold today with the 2.4 injectors so ill try that first..... what i dont get is how ppl run the lsj injectors n/a and it doesnt run too rich? but fuel systems confuse the @!#$ out of me haha.... i was hoping to run lsj injectors under boost... im gonna run 12 psi i think not sure yet i guess we will see what tuning deligates... dont get me wrong im not saying running wot at 7500 is a good thing but it feels and sounds soooo good when its passing vtec civics lol
john zappernick wrote:what i dont get is how ppl run the lsj injectors n/a and it doesnt run too rich? but fuel systems confuse the @!#$ out of me haha....
LSJ injectors are only 36#s and they dont run rich because you have to retune the car for larger injectors.
its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa
You adjust the injector constant in HP tuners that's how. My saab injectors are 36# and mine idles perfect and drives fine after ve tuning. And le5 injectors aren't going to help you.
i also have the cobalt ss injectors. a tune is a MUST with these and the manifold aswell. but u must already have access to tuning software if u are reving to 7500.

yea my friend has hpt for his lnf solstice.... the only problem is i dont have a wideband and no one in my area knows how to tune with hpt.. so thats why all we could do was adjust rev limit and pe.....thanks for all the helpful feedback.. ussually when somone posts all you get is haters haha... and ive been running 7500 for a while now october maybee... i drive it everyday and i drive hard and put away wet... so i do rev to 7500 prettymuch everyday i drive... anyone with tuning suggestions are welcome... like just an overview i know what works for one person wont nessesarily work for me but i ordered my stuff today and i wanna see how it runs with my current settup after tuning..
Would the LE5 intake work with the supercharger tune on the saab setup, or does that need to be included into a tune?
Before you tune you need a wideband for sure. You can't do it properly without it.
I was going to grab the saab intake mani off the car im stripping, for my saab setup
i know i need a wideband like i said thats why i havent tuned anymore than i have.... but this sites so damn confusing the overview sticky says the heads are proven rliable up to 11000 rpm... now unless my math is messed up 7000 and 7500 rpm is on the way to 11000 lol.... but i will def order the lsj injectors and get a wideband here soon
mabe the head as a structure, but definitly not the components within the head. lash adjusters is one i can think of off hand, my buddy on here (newt) broke one reving to 7 if i remember correctly with stock valve springs. i think theres a few others who had that problem aswell.
14.04 @ 101 ALLMOTOR
11000k yeah right. Valve springs will fail way before then. I'm shocked at 7500 you've not broke a spring. Or valve since they are probably floating at your redline.
i have no doubt its not good but thats what i mean ppl post stuff supposedly from gm and its bull@!#$ so i just beat the @!#$ outa my car haha if it breaks it breaks....
