2004 checvy cavalier 2.2 ecotec, the hex on the cam for the power steering came off, stage 2 cams, has there been anyone else with this problem and besides replacing the cam, is there another way to fix this problem?
Yes, happened to me. Contact your supplier for the cams and they should send out a new one. However mine was noticed instantaneously becaues I had no PS

besides that JB weld might do the trick??
its the hex insert that came off from the camshaft correct? would covering that in jb weld putting it back in place letting it dry for a day not solve the problem if not just temporarily?
imo its worth a shot if he cant get another cam from comp.

id rather get it tig welded in than JB weld..... but yeah like said, contact the cams place before ANYTHING... surprising what they will do before you resort to fixing it yourself.
Welding on a cam can be tricky business...they can be made of unique alloys that might not take well to welding. If the manufacturer doesn't have a fix, post some pics here and perhaps we can all brainstorm a solution. I foresee a machined solution.

contact the manufacturer (I'm betting its comp cams), this is a known problem.

I took it to get looked @ by a welder, he laughed and said even a small bead would throw it way out of balance on one end, and also noted it would be very difficult seeing as there is less then 1/4 of room to do so

was just an idea, but my first idea worked for you.
i never thought that this could happen, the guy that owns this car replaced the power steering pump on it, in wich i also found out that the power steering pump on the 2.2 ecotec is the same as an LD9...... lol i kept looking at it like damn that pump looks familiar, anyways so after he changed it it kept doing the same thing, so then i replaced the rack and pinion, ( a little stressful but i didnt have to drop the sub frame ) so after that it kept doing the same thing. i looked inside the reservore of the pump and the fluid wasnt moving... thats when it hit me.... damn it cant be, i took the pump out and there was the problem, the hex came right out with the pump, the hex was just spinning in there........ well the cam was just spinning on the hex.

I know and thank you, I was just explaining that welding it is out of the question. I even beleieve the cam/hex are 2 different materialsq

i have seen this before, comp sent me a new cam but it did it again, i ended up taking the hex piece and cut a couple grooves around the outside of it, then used green lock tite and inserted it back into the cam shaft and let it dry, i have never had and problems since, and ive turned it 9100rpm on several ocasions
