10:1 CR pistons?
Thursday, December 30, 2010 7:57 PM
Where can I find 10:1 pistons for my LD9 in stock bore? I searched and went to car customs but they didn't have any in their catalog.
Thank in advance.

I'm sure if you call karo he can order what ever you want.

Before you order stock bore pistons, measure your bores and get an actual dimension on the pistons and clearance required. You may find that you need to go with an overbore piston and have the block machined for correct clearance.

10:1 will most likely have to be domed, and have valve pocket reliefs...

^ or be flat top and come up above the deck and come with instructions to try and maintain at least .030 piston to head clearance.

^^ shouldnt be any more than a normal order from wiseco...???

you could also just get normal flat tops and deck the block a bit, do the same exact thing.

Stock "shelf stock" is always cheaper than custom. Custom is considered anything they dont list as a part number in their catalog.

cheapest rout sonic test your block. get 2.3 rods fabbed to fit your crank, bore block to 2.3 piston specs. use those and 2.3 pin. anything you do will cost money. but i do believe this would be cheaper then getting custom pistons

or just use bigger cams if your looking for more power

Thank for all the input guys I got a hold of Karo and we're sending emails.
Just To let everyone know I'm building an N/A motor, I'm shooting for 200 at the wheels so high comp and new cams are a must.

then i suggest going a bit higher than just flat tops.

go at least .060 over on the block and get domed pistons. would put you right around 10.5-11:1 for compression.

For my n/a build I'm planning for 11.5-1 and am hoping to see that kinda of number.

Ok so I got a set of 10.5:1 pistons from Karo (great guy) will a stock head gasket be enough for clearance? I know there should be .030 clearance I just don't know if stock thickness will be enough.

yes, the stock head gasket should be plenty.... unless ur block has been decked a BUNCH, but that is very unlikly.

a stock head gasket is around .052 iirc.
