Pulleys

Well racing season Is coming soon and theirs a couple things I would like to, and light weight pulleys Is one. I have a 1995 2.2L Cav, and I was wondering If there was a whole light weight pulley kit including all the pulleys or just a under drive pulley like this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ASP-840097/Application/?prefilter=1

Thanks,

Jo Brown

P.S. You If you guys have an idea of what I should get just let me know

I sell stock diameter alternator pulleys, but do not have any currently.

The pulley from summit you have listed is for a S-10, but will work fine on your cavalier. J-bodies are 5 ribs, S-10s are 6 ribs. Just use the 5 ribs closest to the motor. Also, and old AEM underdriven alternator pulley from a 2.4l cavalier will fit as well, but I do not recommend running two under driven pulley. You will / may have charging issues if you run both.

I got my pulley from James Cahill, which is an ASP pulley exactly like the link you posted. I also have MD Enforcer's aluminum alt pulley (AWESOME craftsmanship and weight reduction). I have more details in my profile. (Like what belt worked best.)

I have no charging issues, and the engine seems to rev up quicker and downshift much smoother. Although I did do the big three, just for how simple it was to do. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Well, looking closer to the ad you posted, I have a 5 groove instead of the 6 groove you posted. Try googling Asp 5 groove pulley.

^ That ASP pulley is only a 5 groove pulley. I had that same one on my 2.2 when I had it. Never had any sort of issue with it, skill required to install = next to none. Though, on ASP's site it lists it as a Clear coat aluminum, (which is what I had) and not that it's black. Same price though. It's noticeably lighter than your stock pulley.

As far as a full set of pullies, I don't think there are any out there. I know the stock alternator pulley is pretty light as it is. Water pump pulley could probabably lose a bit tho.

I thought about making a full set, but the price was more than most would ever pay.

Mine are, and I'm sure I'll make alternators. Not sure on the crank pulleys.

Any plan to make any soon?
I put a RK Sport under drive crank pulley on back in the fall. Seemed to improve low end. Would the alt pulley do the same, only better?

I normally make them in the summer time. The crank makes the biggest difference. The stock alternator weighs in at a little over 6oz. Mine are under 3oz.

Whatever you can get your hands on. I have a 25% underdrive ASP (39mm vs 52mm) crank pulley though.

Forgot to mention this. The ASP pulley is a 5 rib. I have no idea why it's listed as a 6, but it is a 5 rib.
