Does anyone have a wiring diagram for using msd interface modules with the eco icm? Ive seen the wiring with the dis-2, but Im just wanting to do the coil swap and all I can find is ld9 diagrams. Has anyone even done a coil swap on the eco using just interfaces/coils? Everytime Ive seen is using the dis2 as well, do factory eco ignition have advantages that a factory ld9 ignition doesnt? I would still think external swap would be beneficial atleast because of heat, opinions?
Idk I'd like to know myself.
Mike - I have a full bolt on MSD setup for the eco and for a killer deal ask autocrossing dude. Box alone is $561 I am asking $400 shipped for a PLUG AND PLAY setup, power and ground, doneskies!

There are 3 wires coming off the eco ICM, just as the ld9. My diagram works just the same as the eco, you just need to find which wire is for power, cylinders 1 & 4, and cylinders 2 & 3. There is a write up that pj has showing which wire is which.

That is using the dis-2 box though. Right now I am just running the DIS2 I am in the process of swapping over the the external coils but it will be done in the same way as that link. I wasn't aware of it being possible to just run the interfaceblocks and coils on the ecotec. I never remember a post about it being done not saying it is impossible I just don't recall it having ever been done. Now there was/is an msd distributor that replaces the ps pump that is the closest I can think of.
Well if we can use the 2200 interface..why cant we use the plug and play coilpacks that we use for the 2200??

I knew he had a write up. The ld9's dont need the cam sync so i wouldnt think the ecos would either.

however unlike the LD9's the L61 in the Jbody does not have a cam sensor. this from what i have been told causes a problem with using the msd box and coils.
It seems like alot of people are looking for an answer to this, anyone? Im sure pj or someone could help
besides an external trigger wheel im not sure there is another solution.
The problem is how the eco runs it fueling it takes a signal from one of the wires from the ignition and running the msd box in its place it throws a code as well as sends the injectors into a batch fire mode. (or so i have heard/been told) getting rid of the code is easy HPT takes care of that but having to deal with a car running in batch fire mode would be a drain especially for a daily driver.
but i could totally be wrong about this.
its too bad we cant figure out how to run a BEE*R or something like that for a 2 step.
I plan on running the msd not only for better spark, but also for the 2-step ability. But I plan on using the dis-2 like most have to get it to successfully work.
Phil was going to run a bee*r...
I AM running a Bee*r... just haven't gotten around to installing it yet... but PJ and I got the wiring down

We run the cam sync generator to prevent the CEL and the injectors from going into batch fire mode. In PJ's diagram it shows how it goes into the setup basically it picks up that signal to let the ecu hear what it wanted to hear to and keep everything happy, and the MSD basically invisible to the ECU.
