My a/c doesnt work, it wont even kick on...when its summer and hott, i never use it. i just open the windows so i heard its about 80 lbs in the front of the car which is a really good weight reduction, what im asking is it hard to do? anyone on here did a thread on it with pics or anything?
its actually really easy to do.
the hardest/worst part is recovering the freon from the system. youre not supposed to let it bleed off into the atmosphere.
anyhow, get the gas out of the system first.
since the rest of it doesnt work, you need not worry about breaking anything on it.
just disassemble the lines, they unscrew at the firewall for the evaperator.
unbolt the compressor, disconnect any electrical connections and tie them up neatly.
unbolt the condenser from the car and slide it out.
its pretty self explanatory, and easier still because youre not planning on reusing the parts.
Everything i took out was only about 30-35lbs. the only thing left was the evaperator under the dash in the cabin, but i dont see a real need to remove it. I cant imagine its that heavy.
I dont think you can save 80lbs, but savings is savings.
youre also going to need the non-ac belt. local parts stores should stock it. just give them your model info and motor and tell them you dont have ac, it was an option on the ln2.

thanksssss ... and yea my belt tensioner is bad so im gonna just leave the ac thing on the belt and start removing everything else until i have time to get my tensioner done, then ill do the new belt at same time....i can bring my car into school and get the tensioner done free lol my school has the thing to take out the freon too, i think my honda friend told me its about 70-80 lbs but yea like you said, saving is saving and it is in the front of the car where its really needed
im confused with one thing, i havent started yet but i see from the compressor there is a line that looks like it goes into the radiator or near it, how does that come out?
The entire AC system weighs 33 lbs, at least that is what my 99 weighed in at. Condenser, compressor, lines, everything...

That's the condenser, it's pretty much a radiator for the AC, just unscrew/unbolt stuff until it's loose.
Oh, and how do you know the tensioner is bad? Just wondering

i go to school for mechanics, and its a new belt, my teacher looked at the squeaking..hes like its probably a tensioner. when i look at it, it looks like my power steering pulley wobbles a little but he said thats normal and its not a grinding noise so its not the pulley. but im still sketchy about it cause when the car is off, the belt has good tension..he said its auto tensioner and when there is load, tension loosens so not sure though, i got a little feeling the wobble is making it move on other pulleys but i cant see it
wait so for the condenser by the radiator, how would i get that out? removing the radiator or front bumper ? i dont see it
Remove your hood latch assembly as shown to gain access to your evaporator core.
Once all that's removed which takes little time to do, you just simply pull the radiator core up and out.
It's pretty simple really.
Good luck with it.

Thank you Dave and JBO!
i found that on google too but thats different engine so i wasnt sure if it was the same lol quite a bit of work taking the bumper and all off =/
I left my front bumper on, when I removed mine out the top. After I removed the hood latch and support.

I pulled my condenser out the bottom. Don't remember how exactly, but I didn't remove anything except the condenser. Hoodlatch, bumper, etc all stayed on.

I had a reason (oil cooler install) to have it all off so that's why I did what I did.
Try doing it without first and go from there.
