the word of the day is search, followed by sticky, followed by......

Re: Cheap trix

... the fact that there really is no 'cheap trix' that add performance. theres a few that will make it SOUND faster lol, but not a lot that will do anything. Engine mounts and suspension mods are prolly the cheapest that make the car more fun to drive with very little cash

That's because there really are no cheap tricks. The cheapest trick is weight reduction that's about it. Everything else costs money and your definition of "cheap" will differ from some people. Then again your on J-body and 80 percent of people here are super cheap as fawk so I'm probably wrong.

Lol true enough i was gonna delete the post after i saw the sticky but couldnt figure out how to lol.
I was thinking on turboing my car but i dont want to spend like 1,300 on a turbo kit if i do it i might just buy it all seperate the main thing that is hardest to find not too expensive is
Intercooler and piping and a turbo manifold i have heard bad storys about ebay and i dont think id buy really anything from them. other than my obdII cable Check out my thread in
Tuning and look at the link let me know if that obdII cable would work.?? its still a 16 pin so i dont see why not.

I'll humor this:

Weld the mounts solid, pump up the tires, remove the airbox and stretch a piece of nylon stalking over the intake tube and hold it in place with a big rubber band, better grounds to the chassis and engine block, and definitely buy a belt to eliminate A/C if you have it. All for minimal to no gain, but hey the butt dyno never lies right guys? (sarcasm)

Since everyone else is being a dick about it:

My car.
1997 Cavalier, 2.2 OHV. GM Part number = LA1. It adds quite a bit of power (192.9whp). Cost me 400 when I found it at a junk yard.

It won't really add any power or anything (the most it will do is maybe make the engine a tad bit louder), but you can remove the air intake resonator (1995 - 2005; all engines). You can also remove the tuner tube from a 2200 (1998 - 2002) or LD9 (1995? - 2002).

These are just a couple "mods" you can do that are free and easy if you really want to mess around with your engine and not hurt anything.

Heres a free 1-2hp

2hp is me being optimistic. I've read this on several different websites so there probably is SOME truth to it, but im sure the gain is very minimal. Theres probably a better chance that you will just screw up a plug and lose power.

When I mentioned indexing the plugs on here before I was berated with comments saying that it was worthless. But there must be SOMETHING to it; at least IMO.

I agree, there probably is at least some truth to it. Although I like I said 2hp is very optimistic, would expect it to be more around .5-1hp if anything. Which really isn't even worth the effort (at least not in my opinion). In the end though, it MIGHT have an effect and its free, so I figured I would post it.

Hmmm...

Just stumbled upon this in my search for other inexpensive power adders... Any body think there is some truth to this?
