Hello everyone, I was not sure where to post this so sorry if it's in the wrong spot. Now my question, when I race my car ( 95' 2.2 sunfire ) and the temp gets up above about 170-180 it will not start after it has been killed or shut off. If you pour a little gas down the intake it will fire right up and runs fine but will not fire by just cranking it with the starter. I changed the fuel return valve on the fuel rail ( it was stuck open) then i started it and ran it up to 210 and shut it off so I could try to figure out the pronlem but it started everytime I tried it, So I thought I had it fixed but friday night at the track I tried it and it would not start again. If you get it down around 160 it will fire right up no problem. I am running a 90 lb inline pump with the stock fuel injectors and rail, were in the process of doing the top feed conversion but thats not going on till winter. The car runs great but if I have to shut it down for any reason during the race i'm done cause it won't start back up. Thanks for the info and have a great day.
If it matters it's running the 98' pistons with a ported intake/head and about 12.5/1 compression and 1.6 roller rockers
Seriously... Why haven't you done a '97-later ECM conversion? I ask this as prior to that... The ECMs used were more like the OBD-I style. Meaning: Reprogramming the fuel-mapping... Including that for "Cold" and "Hot" starts... will require "Burning" a new chip of many of the original engine design parameters have been changed. OBD-II systems only require a "Reflash", which takes far less time to do & can be done by anyone with knowledge of EFI operation, a laptop computer, the tuner software & money to pay for the licensing for use on the given app being tuned. ($100per-app for HPTuner)
In short: You have a hot-start problem caused by the computer not being programmed for proper hot-start fueling with the changes you made. That's my guess.
Also: Try installing a 155liter/hr to 255lt/hr pump. If that can't provide enough fuel, well....
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
