LN2 intake manifold

Are the intake manifolds swappable for different year LN2? I want to put a 2001 Ln2 manifold on a 1996 head for better throttle body and coil pack location options. Boost is a future possibility aswell.

If I recall the 2.2 (95-98) has slightly different port locations than the 2200 (99-02)...at least on the exhaust side...im not 100% sure about the intake side, but I think its different as well. I think the magic number was 1/8th inch lower/higher. So if they are different on the intake as well you may be able to work the intake with a dremel to make the ports match.

Thanks for the imput guys but not realy what i wanted to hear i got 2 2.2 engines and a 2200 head. i also got a cold air intake, pacesetter headers, and a throttle body spacer for the 2200. The 2.2 in the car now runs perfect and so does my other one. Id like to take my other 2.2 and build up a race motor with parts off the 2200 head i got. Its good to know before hand what parts will swap before rippin apart perfectly good engines.

'98-later: Square

Pre-'98: Round (Circular, oval...)

Taking cue from the Big-block Chevy (Like they did in the design of the LN2!) the oval-port (Earlier) head has the preferred exhaust port, but the later head has the preferred intake port. GM had a good thing with the LN2 once they re-synced the crank-triggers, but then they took it too-far in order to try to make it carry the burden of the CAFE-mandates in the later years & supposedly satisfy customers performance expectations. Shame no-one makes a head that combines the best of both.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".
