Just wanted everyones opinion on what there most noticeable gains came from with the 2200
engine swap to 2.2 ecotec
Ecotec from my knowledge was a 2.0. Is there a 2.2 also?
Ecotec..... 2.2 L61 - Came in Cavys... Then you have the 2.2 LAP, 2.0 LSJ, 2.0 LNF, 2.4 LE5, avaliable in the Cobalts.... Then there's the 2.0 LK9 in Saab 9-3s which is basically a turbo LSJ. Ahhhh @!#$ it theres even more of them that I don't remember off-hand. They came in all different sizes from N/A to Turbo to S/C, etc...
oo ok ok. If I wanted to stay with the ln2. Besides the mods I already have listed on my profile page are there any others that would be worth trying?
What cam nd headwork would you guys suggest. Gonna stay away from the turbo for now.
what are your goals? the OHV does not respond well to bolt ons and basic mods. if you want to get any real noticeable difference, you'll need forced induction.

if i remember right, a couple of guys boosted ln2's into the 200+ range.
nitrous works. 13 second cars have been made.
ALSO...a good solid rebuild full N/A and weight reduction has proven a 13 second car. the key is finding people that know how to build, and KNOW how to TUNE.....
all depends on which route and how extreme you wanna go.
any car responds well to bolt on mods, but most people dont keep in relation of how much power you are starting with and then how much is gained. basic boltons are across the board mods. in other words, its the same mods that have been used since the early 1900's.... and its still effective today.
increase air, fuel, and spark timing/intensity.....you gain power. real simple.
its easy to swap an engine, but most people arent as skilled when it comes to building or tuning one
boils down to, do a swap and get the same power as a stock cobalt/j-body from 2002+ or build/boost/tune something thats unique and prob more powerful. everyone is different, everyone will take different routes.
As far as headwork u mean p+p right. Nd what would I be doing for the cams. Nd as far as injectors nd pistons what is the best route to go for those

I feel the same way about when I hear how much power a F/I engine makes... People forget that the internal-combustion engine is just a self-powered air-pump, displacing air... albeit sooty, polluted air as it's discharged... as it operates. Turbos or blowers are also just air-pumps, and are merely displacing air as they operate too. Tie that to an engine and all you've got is a smaller pump feeding a bigger one, in helping it
displace more air! So what's the big-deal about F/I? Like the old saying goes: There's no replacement for displacement. Plus, the tighter the squeeze becomes (Compression), the more power is had from it. Because boosting is like increasing your compression, but only on-demand.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Whoa... Event is back?
To the OP: You definitely need to do a LOT more reading before thinking about any significant mods. Start out with threads like "2200 power record".
fortune cookie say: better a delay than a disaster
Gonna read up on that now. Thank you

No DOS because the LN2 was designed in Qbasic while engineers tried to decide whether to squeeze out another 20 hp or just play Nibbles.. Just Sayin'
