I have a 1999 Cavalier Z24 which had the 2.4L Quad 4 engine with standard transmission. I lost the motor and replaced it with another 2.4L and have now lost that motor. I am not able to find another engine in the area but i found a 2.2L out of a 2001 Sunfire. I want to know if the motor mounts out of this sunfire while bolt onto my Cavalier body and also if my cavalier transmission will fit onto the engine. I also know i will have to change the computer, but would i have to change the full harness or just the computer? Thanks, Nathan.

You will have to change the computer, harness, and transmission. Swapping to the 2.2 is a lot of work to give up performance, and devalue the car should you sell it in the future. Are you sure you really want to do that? The 2.4 can be had from plenty of vehicles. Just hunt around, and don't be afraid to find one out of your area and have it shipped. The money you spend on shipping will be about what you would pay for the additional parts you need to convert, but you would still have your 2.4.

Also seeing as you have been blowing them, keep the blown one for a rebuild this time.

You might want to add a LoJack to that new motor too, so you dont lose it as well.
