where can i find a 5v source in the car?

trying to run another map sensor with sole purpose of logging boost in hp tuners, i know running it off the existing map sensor can cause issues is there any 5v outputs in the fuse box or in the AC system or something non essential?

Not sure if yours has it or not but on my '96 there's a 5 volt ref. that runs into the interior and back to the plug under the back seat for the "Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor" it's a Grey/Black stripe .

If you are worried about transient voltage fluctuations, then you may want to consider using the 0.33uF and 0.1uF shunt capacitors they show in the datasheet in Figure 10 on page 23. Datasheet...and if you don't intend to bolt this to a metal surface (such as your car's body) then I would consider getting a small heat sink as well. Regulating from 12-14V down to 5V requires a significant amount of energy/heat.

And FWIW, I used one of these to power 2 map sensors, 2 IR sensors and a very power hungry voltage divider from a 13.5V source for my senior design project.
