HO Springs

It appears that I am getting the run around from another machine shop. They same that they may not be able to do the power steering insert on my intake HO cam. The problem that I am runnin into is that I need to get my car back together and dont really have more time to wait longer for the cams to get done. I already have changed over the springs and caps in the head.

I was wondering if anyone has used the HO exhaust cam along with the "secret" intake cam? It just seems to me like a loss of backpressure would be created but I am not certain. Also, if I do end up having to do this or even both "secret" cams, do I need to change back the springs and such in the head?

The machinist may still do the cam, but I just need a plan B. I will find out today. Thanx in advance

1. Backpressure is a myth- exhaust velocity is where the problems come from with very free flowing exhaust.

2. As a plan B, I would still run the HO exhaust cam over doing both secret cams. You probably wont notice a big difference with just secrets, but you will notice the HO exhaust in there. It might move your power range up a little in rpm but it will feel better than secrets.

I have secret cams in my sc motor and can hardly notice a difference, I will be swapping in an HO exhaust at least as soon as I can find one.

What about the springs tho? Would just snap the valve closed faster and eliminate float right? Gonna try this with the HO exhaust and secret for now I guess. Back to lookin for a machine shop to do the cam

Yes springs will be fine. A little extra seat pressure wont hurt anything.
