Just weird how it happened... just took it to autozone and had the guy clear it but it came back a half a mile down the road... no its not hard but time consuming...

Actually it is not uncommon on your motor for the wires to get brittle from the heat. GM actually sells a pigtail to replace it. Your problem is likely within 1-2 inches on the plug to the sensor.

Well i actually checked up to about 6-7 inches and the wires looked fine.. so im stumped

check the wires with a dvom make sure they are getting voltage then check the sensor autozone is known for having bad new parts also check your coolant level and check the ground thats what usually goes bad on the ect

Going to get up bright and early and check the wiring in the morning.. But lets say its not the wiring then what... just so i can continue to find the problem or atleast fix it

Ok so i went out and check all the wires.. they seemed fine.. but i got to the pigtail and the yellow wire (sensor input) came right off the pigtail.. so i just took the pigtail off and cut the wires and pulled the old wires out of the pigtail and took the existing wires and put them back into the pigtail. seems to work but the engine light is still on and the temp gauge seems to be working one minute and then when it cycels it dont and so on so forth.. any input.??? could a possible clearing of the code work too..

I would get a new pigtail/plug from the dealer, or junkyard.

Well let it run for a bit and the temp gauge is working... but the check engine light is still on... and the codes that come up are P0117 and P0118
P0117 - Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, low voltage
P0118 - Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, high voltage
Anyone shed some light on what this means if the temp gauge works now properly but the engine light is on and these are the codes i get

Clear your computer and see if the code comes back, they don't magically disappear when you fix the problem.

Yeah i disconnected the battery... going to go hook it up in a bit and hopefully the engine light stays off.... but at autozone they said give it sometime it might go off by itself... i kinda chuckled.... but i will let you know in about 15mins or so..
