copper headgaskets?

have two questions about copper headgaskets...

i am looking for around 350-400hp in my 2.2 turbo ecotec, From what i understand you need to machine the head and block to fit in steel o-rings correct?
also if im running 8.9:1 pistons and used a .050 gasket, how much would that mess with compression?

thanks!

running rich? turn the boost up

I was under the impression that either the head or block needs o-ringing not both. it would make the compression higher but for 350-400 hp youll need the extra points of compression anyways lol. will still be less than the stock 10-1.

thanks cory, but if .050 is thicker than oem gasket, wouldnt that cause less compression as its like dishing out a piston
