Ok I ran across a 2.3 in a junkyard and I was wondering what all I could use off it that would make a difference. I know it might not be much.
Parts I already robbed off it are:
Injectors and harness
Intake
Throttle body
How much of a difference in size is the injectors I have vs. those and the size of the 2.3 throttle body compaired to my 2.4.
Also I want to go get the whole head off it to get the ho cams but is it worth it really? And I'm sure I sound like a noob for asking this but If I did get the head could I bolt it right on? Or is there anything special about it vs. mine I have currently.
Thanks in advance.
BTW I made a mistake it is a QUAD 4 HO
Oh and 1 other thing it is in a Oldsmobile Calais Quad442
Take the ENTIRE engine.
Sell it to a good home.
Profit.

8 psi with m62 and IAT under 100
No Quad 4 left the factory with any cam lift over .410.
Take the whole thing and rebuild it, then swap into your car.
I will try to get the whole motor but The wiring harness is cut which i don't think I would need anyways since i have the 2.4 already. Another thing is I am not sure if it runs at all considering it's in a junkyard and there is no damage to the outside of the car which would mean the motor went out or something and that is why it ended up there. Going back tomorrow and hopefully everything looks good and maybe it does have the W41 package. Didn't get a chance to check the tranny but gonna check that as well.
WTF?!?!?! QUAD 442?!!?? THATS A @!#$IN W41 MY FRIEND!!!!
go pull the cams, the ECU, and the radiator support tag.
(ohh.. and ill buy the idi cover)

Ok I was reading tonight but still got the understanding that it could be a 086 head or something but woot woot for it being a W41.
Oh and the IDI cover was gutted before I got to it.
Idiots took the coils and all but left the bare cover. Don't know why they didn't take the whole thing but I'll grab the cover up anyways.
What color was the cover? Not ever 442 had the W41 engine. Its more common to see a HO engine in them than a W41. the 086 head can be found on damn near any DOHC 2.3. I have come across LO engines with teh 086 head and HO intake/exhaust manifolds. Just keep that in mind.
The raised Letters on the cover were of the silver aluminum finish with sunk in piece black if that helps. Headed there in a few hours to check and see what I can find out
HO motor most likely. The W41 has a red IDI with some very distinct markings. I hIghly doubt someone would remove the W41 IDI and install a standard HO one.
The 442 model lasted just two years so yes, i agree with clyde. it could not be a W41... but it most certainly still could be. either way, you'll want the HO specific parts all the same.
Production totals:
1990 "W-40" = 2629
1991 "W-40" = 1160
1991 "W-41" = 204

I know where one of those 204 cars is at. Not getting any parts off it though.
Well just to update this. I pulled the motor and after pulling the head found that it was trashed. Looks like the head of one of the valves broke off or something and well you can pretty much firgure out the rest. Oh well at least I got some usable parts off it like the injectors, Intake, and throttle body.
Did you grab the cams? Its probably a HO motor.
and even still, grab the idi cover. you can always throw it up on ebay and get some coin.
