Just got a performance chip installed and the check engine light came on. I took it over to get inspected from a mechanic and he said the computer read it was because of the open circut that the guy cut into. He said to re-wire the ati that goes into the stock air intake in place of the chip and connect it to my aftermarket intake. Does this affect why my car wants to stall when the a/c is turned on? No stupid answers please only helpful ones.
its because they dont make a chip for the j bodies you have to hp tune it the chips just make the car think its cold and dump fuel whick isnt the right way to do it lose the "chip" and do it the right way
Erik Packard
they don't make chips for our PCMs
so i don't see how you could have had one installed...
you just wasted money. congrats.
take that "chip" out. its garbage
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Ok for those who have responded why did you all waste time being dickheads and not answer my question? It was about the car stalling not for opinions about a chip. Yes i did take the chip out and the problem was fixed. I sent it back. I admit my mistake that I shouldve done more research. This site is made to inform people about the jbody platform vehicles not bash them when they try something out. We werent born to know everything right off the bat.

This is also the performance section of the forum. You car is stalling, so thats a maintenance issue. I am just trying to "inform" you, so you don't make the mistake in the future. I know not everyone is born knowing the difference between maintenance and performance. =)
Yes the "fake" chip is causing your car to stall.
now that you've sent it back. go find a shop that can HP tune your car, and get the benefits the right way

I honestly over looked the maintenance icon which is my fault and I accept that. Your comment however just goes to show you are a sad person in life who has nothing better to do than post stupid comments to people hundreds of miles away from you. Just because you didnt know the difference between maintenance and performance at one point in your life doesnt mean I dont. Not everyone is that stupid like you.

Says the guy who posted in the wrong section... and doesn't know it IAT not ati.
I said it before... and I shall say it again:
We believe in positive-response... Just say something stupid, and we're positive you'll get a response!
Go beyond the "bolt-on".

if you are still here to read this...
you asked why your car is messing up, and informed us about a chip...
we all know that they don't make real chips for these cars, they have IAT sensor foolers, but thats about it. So every member that posted here said "the chip is garbage" because the chip was causing your problem. It was also mentioned that if you wanted to do it right, you need to HP Tune the ECM to get the benefits you were looking for.
we informed you
so please don't get all negative because we told you that a part you tried on your car is garbage... we would have told you this had you asked about it before you paid for and installed it.
This thread didnt't get crazy until you reacted...
