Will 2200 valves fit a 2.2?

Thanks.

honestly?? ohv? right..........if its OHV then im pretty sure there is no difference, considering the displacment is the same

Displacement similarities doesn't necessarily mean they will drop right in. Check the size of the guides and overall size of the valves. I am pretty sure that there will be no difference between the two performance-wise.

I would just pick up a set of polished valves from Karo.

Could have swore the '97 and below had longer valves. Now for something like this where your trying to see if parts interchange you can always go to a website like Advance autoparts and look up valves for both engines. If you see the same part number for both then you'll have your answer.

i think in 93 the valves changed from an 8mm to 7 mm so those are obviously different

^ This ... but it was in 1992... theres a first casting and a second head casting with the 8 to 7 mm guides respectively.... the guides are integral to head and cannot be changed...

wrong.... we have a 91 head we run 7mm valves in. we use a saturn valve guide that presses into the head like normal

well i was told you cannot change the guides...

either way my 92 head came with 8mm valves...

There was the change from 8mm to 7mm, and then the change to shorter valves with the new head. Diameters are the same though, which is why it was suggested that 93/94-97 valves could be swapped into the 98+ heads to allow for taller springs and more lift. However, intake and exhaust are longer by different amounts, so the intake and exhaust springs end up with different installed heights.

Ugh. If you don't actually KNOW the answer, then why are you attempting to answer the question at all? The displacement may be the same but the heads between the two engines are COMPLETELY different. That's like saying an Ecotec's valves must fit a Honda H22 engine because the displacement is the same.

The answer is NO, at least not as a direct drop-in for stock parts. 2200 valves are shorter, so without swapping to 2200 springs/retainers, pushrods, and adjustable rockers you're throwing your valvetrain geometry completely out of whack. There may be more than that involved in making them work, but I know for a fact the valves alone will not just drop in and fit properly.
