sorry if this has been answered i cant seem to find it thru the search. i have an eco that i will be going boosted this fall. my question is are the rods and pistons able to be replaced thru the bottom of the motor or do they need to come out the top. thank you your time.
pretty sure its only through the top.. .at least for installation (To get the ring compressor on there) but wait for an eco guy to chime in to tell you for sure...
yea that pesky thing called the crankshaft is sort of in the way.
out the top with the piston and rod, out the bottom with the little piece at the bottom of the rod. only way to do it.
thanks for the input. i didnt figure it could be done but wasnt sure if there was a way. PJ how long typically does it take to swap piston and rods? i can turn wrenches and know my way around working on cars, just never replaced rods or pistons before.
