well i just got my reenlistment bonus and am looking to build a performance motor for my 96 2.2 cav i have the motor that is in the car that is knocking and a spare that only has good compression in two cylinders iafter looking arround the site i saw a few links here and there for websites that sell performance parts. i would appreciate any help with links to sites and any ideas of things i can do to the engine. (pondering a turbo) thanks again

good place for parts, but unfortunately, just buying performance parts for this engine and slapping them in isn't gonna happen like it is with other engines. i would get a re-ring kit, have the block machined(and get new bearings), shave the head a bit, oversized valves, bigger rockers, and new valve springs, and if you can, a port and polish job on the head. then see how you like that. after that, i would look into a turbo set-up. should make you pretty happy. its a basic, not too expensive(compared to what some on here do) build that should get you in the low to mid 200 hp range, depending on which turbo you go with.
buy a wrecked 03-05 cav ... and use it as a complete swap car for yours. and then supercharge it with the cobalt or ion redline supercharger.

good option too. most are happier with the eco over the ohv...not gonna say all, cuz all is a bad word...
