Ok 2001 2.4. I have a autometer shift light. It has always been hooked up to the pink wire off the IDI. I get a RPM signal for the shift light. Thing is the light wants to come on a few hunderd RPM's before it is suppose to,. I changed grounds, shift pills. The pink wire on the IDI is suppose to be hot when key is on. The purple with white stripe is REF SIG. Wouldn't this be the correct wire? I tried it and I'm getting like half a signal. Shift light with a 6400 pill comes on at 2500RPM's. So Purple no stripe is CKP SIG. Is this the correct wire? I get same thing half signal.
My shift light has a switch for 4-6-8. It is on 4, and when I switch it to 6 or 8 it raises the RPM at which the light comes on but no where near the correct setting. Any thoughts?

Listening because I have an Autometer tach with shift light that I want to install and I also need to know where to pickup the tach signal? Also is an msd tach adapter needed to correct this?
i ran a new pin to c2-10 on the ecu, there is no pin in that location so you have to have a spare harness you can rob a pin out of, if you dont have any i could mail either of you one, i have a few spare harnesses lying around....
R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
I have always hooked all my buddies up to the pink wire.

I had to run a wire to my ecu for my rpm gauge, like Brandon did.

Could it be something to do with the pre/post 99 differences?
I have one of the bastard 99s thats more like the 00. Here soon I will too need a RPM signal wire.
Is there anyway to check voltage of the pink wire to verify if it will work or not? Id hate to run the wire and end up not being correct.
"Oil Leak ? What oil Leak ? Oh, Thats Just The Sweat From All The HorsePower!!"
The thing is the pink wire does work for me, but not 100% correct. Also when on the dyno lasttime they could not get a correct signal. at 1000RPM's they had 3000RPM's.

John, on my 99 harness we hooked my aftermarket tach gauge up to the pink wire and I got the same exact thing you did with the rpm's being off, we couldn't figure out why my tach needle would bounce steadily. Well after a few questions here Gary(the old guy) told me to just run a wire to the open pin out on the ECU(I have a 2000 ECU) from my aftermarket tach gauge. The spot on my ECU for the tach signal was open, no wire in there(like Brandon said). So I pinned a new wire in there from my tach gauge, bam it works. We use this wire for dyno tuning so its 100% correct.
