My best with the AEM CAI, high flow cat, long as heck resonator (have not measured), Trans Am muffler, and ground wire kit has been a 0-60 in 7.7 seconds.
I currently am over the oil change, tires need filled up as they are under 30psi, I need a 3 point fuel service (too much $$$ for this), the K&N filter has over 15k miles since cleaned, I tested this on a low tank (runs better when at half or above) and I need a fuel filter. Plus I need to lose weight, and throw a lot of junk out of the car.
The point?
There are people wondering what their automatic 2.2 Ecotec with similar mods can do.
The car is not fast, I know that. It is a peppy grocery getter.
The best I am going for is a 0-60 in 7 seconds, or at the very least the same as a Celica GTS.
Once the 4:2:1 header is installed, the 2.4 Cobalt manifold, 62mm TB, and HP Tuners is done I should get there.
I 'might' get cams, not sure yet. Probably only stage 1 street cams, not wild cams.
Does anyone know in detail what all they do when the dealer does a 3 point fuel service?
I am hoping I can just do it instead.
My wife's 2003 Ecotec 2.2 liter Sunfire:
* 2 1/4 inch in and dual 2 inch out muffler Trans Am muffler
* 2 1/4 piping to a very long 2 1/4 inch resonator
* 2 1/4 inch catalytic converter
* an AEM true cold air intake NOPI edition
* 8 gauge ground wire kit
* Toyz front strut brace
* Russell stainless steel brake lines all around.
Thank you, I will.

If its a GM dealership, the 3 point fuel system clean is a MOC systems fuel system clean.
1. Throttle Body cleaner (same spray can you can get at autozone for $3)
2. Fuel System Cleaner (Like seafoam or the Valvoline cleaner)
3. Gas treatment (same stuff you can get at autozone for $3)
They do not replace the fuel filter in the 3 point fuel service.
Walmart has a 2step treatment at tire n lube express.
Kinda like a less potent version of seafoam. They add the gas tank treatment, and then suck a fuel injector cleaner into a vacuum hose. takes about 20 minutes.
I did it on my 04 with 43k miles last weekend, and it really woke the car up. Its $20.

If you don't have the tools to do the induction cleaning on your own, the walmart deal for $20 is a decent price. I have the induction tool, so I prefer to use the $8 seafoam lol.
Excellent, thank you for the input.
With how much $ I have, more like don't have, I need to get as much done myself.

I look back at this post and pondered the 7.7 second 0-60.
I did match port the TB, I think sometime after this post.
I don't understand why I said 7.7 seconds. Back then I think I guestimated...
The car was 140hp base, and around 2770 lbs curb weight. That should be about 9 second 0-60.
The exhaust probably 10hp gain.
TB mod, 2hp.
CAI another 8hp.
The ground wire kit can reduce 0-60 times as it does make the electrical systems run better and that in turns gives better response from my experience.
The car has many systems to benefit and quicker response of the motor in turn makes you move quicker.
All guesstimates on HP... some ads say exhaust will give you 15hp and also for a CAI... but I doubt it on a 4 banger.
Total around 160hp.. which is a guess like I said and which isn't really how performance mods should be calculated honestly.
Sometimes they enhance certain points RPM wise.
The mods made the car feel much quicker.
Can't just add HP up... well at least not always. I am no expert. I just hear this and that about the subject.
Maybe some cars will have mods at to max HP... some might not. I will put it like that.
I ran this thru a 0-60 calculator and 0-60 with the mods is possibly 8.247 seconds.
Maybe back then I counted a little slow timing it....
My apologies.
I think the manual version of this Sunfire w/ Ecotec 2.2 is around 8.4 seconds.
So all those mods on an automatic to make it a little quicker than a stock manual to me is nice.
But, like I said I am not 100%.
I wanted to update this post though as I found it on the net and it reminded me that I might have been wrong and wanted to give a more info about what is more likely the case.
I think I was a little too optimistic, and counted too slow.
Still, that Sunfire was a wonderful car.
It got damaged, and the motor blew years ago.
It was a shame because I heard nothing wrong with the motor at all and it just blew up one day.
One time the car hit some really cold water and the intake sucked in water and had lots of vapor come out the back.
I think this cracked the block and eventually destroyed the motor.
I have a Cobalt 2.2 Ecotec and it is running fine and I think is around 150k miles.
My brother had a Cobalt 2.2 Ecotec also, his was over 250k I believe and he used it to trade for another car.
Mine is probably going to be around for another 100k miles probably or more.
I think the 2.2 Eco motors are good, despite the Sunfire's mishap.
Just don't drown the engine in cold flood waters with a CAI installed...
Anyways, I am not sure if anyone will read this anyways but I wanted to update and leave a, I think, a more accurate account of the Sunfire's ability with the listed mods. Take care...
