anyone else with the lzm upper mount have this problem ??
for those that cant tell..after install the lower bushings have become "smushed " which has caused a gap between the upper bushings and the mount.
keep in mind this happened by just sitting there..the mount has been installed for the past 4 months but the car has never been driven...opened the hood to find this the other day...wonder what others thought? i do NOT want to go with solid mounts..but wondering why a poly bushing is not an option.....if all i have to choose from is rubber or solid i think ill end up making my own bushings.
anyone else have this problem??
honestly, mine did the same thing. i did the solid bushings, no issues or more noticed vibes or anything. and they seemed to fix my same issue.
Yep I figured it would happen, so I ordered solid bushings which took another 2months waiting for them. Id make your own, or I think maybe some universal poly endlink bushings may fit in there pretty good.
im gonna try the poly endlinks ..see if thats a solution
Yea they would probably fit pretty good, and I know like auto stores around here have the Energy suspension universal kits for like $10.
yeah the rubber is way too soft for something like this. its junk.
im glad i ordered the solid bushings with mine first off.
now we all just gotta worry about the top plate BENDING
Stand in the corner and SCREAM with me!!!!
bending ??!!! whos bent ????
quite a few peoples so ive read. check out the LZM mount thread for further details...
i think if you did away with the upper small bushings and had a steel piece made the exact same as the upper section and put it below it i believe it would suffice. thats what i plan on doing before i install mine anyway just to be safe...

thats exactly what i though of as a replacement bushing for the LZM mount. it looks identical in pictures just wondering about scale.
Listening.
My LZM mount is sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.
I've always thought the poly bushings would work but never got that far with it so the reason why I'm subscribing to the thread.
I've also noticed the TTR mount starting to give on the car and will eventually be hitting itself in time.
So I've got to figure out something to replace it or have it redone or something.
Aaron, are you listening?

That design is riddled with issues to begin with........which I did make clear in his 'interest' thread...and had he taken my advice said 'bending' might not have occurred.
Probly a dick move to say that...but.......I did tell him and he continued to defend the terrible design.

thats not the first problem with a TTR mount ive heard of either...
not only did they have 'powdercoating' issues, but the bushings like to rip apart and separate etc.
im convinced the only mount worth a damn around here is in-fact the prothane insert.

How dare you elude we all wasted our time with manufacture/purchase of a fancy upper mount solution and the $20 add-on to the factory mount was always the best route. Brad, you sir are an a$$, I hate you.............because your probably right.
dammit......an expensive tour along a circle path?

But yeah, the TTR mount has the bushing collapsing under the weight of the engine.
In doing so, it's having the center piece start to creep up on the outer portion in which they'll meet and make the mount useless.
It's the polyurethane that is deforming from the weight because I've not really been hard on it much less driven the car for he past 15 months.
Maybe Aaron will chime in with this.
On another mount, I'm not really sure.
The RK mount is about the only other mount available unless I am relegated to going back with the factory mount with the poly insert.
Who knows but all I know is that the TTR mount is not going to last much longer, especially when the supercharger is going to be installed and adding more stress to the mounts.

In all fairness....15 months on a urethane bushing of this size found on the TTR mount and having be exposed to elements found under the hood....I'd probly consider a success. I haven't looked close at mine but I do have some good time on mine, with heat, oil, ect being in close vicinity, if there is signs of age...I'd have to consider this a 'cost of doing business' at some point. Sucks to have this happen without using the car, but still. The next good question to ask is how much is a replacement bushing? If this is reasonable priced, the TTR mount I feel could still be a good product.

jesus, so it's either buy one from a guy who will take ur money and never get back to you.
cracking welds
or failed bushings.

Wow, I didn't know there were issues with either the LZM or TTR mount. My TTR mount has been fine ( outside of the paint ) for the past 2 years

I'll take some pics tomorrow when I get off of work.
That should help in getting a picture.
Right now the mount is fine but will soon be hitting itself which the pictures will show.
And I'm not complaining at all.
I've had good service out of the mount and can't ask for anything more.
I'm just in the market and trying to decide on the options that I have.
A new insert for the TTR mount would be nice so that we could just swap it out and go with the new one.
The mount in my car looks brand new and has been used very little with maybe 1500 miles on it once it was installed.
Either way, I'll figure it out.

This is why I will never go away from my prothane insert. I turn it into a solid mount though. I weld solid steal bars from the top piece to the bracket that bolts to the engine. And then underneath from that bracket to the bottom part of the mount. Did it on my last car and never had any issues. I tracked that car ALOT aswell.
My TTR is holding up fine after about 2 years and a few thousand miles. Only thing is the powder coating is bubling off and rust is showing underneath as they have been known to do.
My ECO TTR upper mount has been on for over a year. The poly part looks fine. The powder coat has begun to craze or crack on the metal. Looks like it is stress or vibration related. It is a fairly stock engine, so I don't anticipate an early failure.
The stock mounts had less than 50,000 miles on it when they were replaced and both showed signs of significant deterioration,
especially the upper mount. The rubber part had a pretty good tear in it.
Brakes wear out, tires wear out, maybe motor mounts on these cars should be viewed in a similar manner. Check periodically and replace as needed.
^gotta disagree with ya there, my stock mount has been on for over 6 years now and is in fine condition, no tearing or anything, and i just broke over 110,000 miles. i want to replace it with an aftermarket mount but after all the bad talk i've seen of various mounts i'm just torn on what one to go with.
btw, srry to the op for the thread jack.
