About 6 months ago Robert came to me and asked me to build a motor that could handle anything. I went on to getting a quote made up and from there he agreed on the price and we started the project. He wanted a motor to handle a Big turbo, that’s it. So after a few calculations of what would work for him we start to order the parts. We started with the bottom end, Forged Rods, .020 Forged Wiseco pistons, Balanced Crank, Clevite 77 bearings, 2.3 Oil pump swap, Modified oil pan for swap and ARP main bolts. The rings were gapped for a turbo application as well as the tolerances on the bearings. We left them loose for less friction. Doing so will require a thicker oil but more power. We figured with that kind of power he was wanting to push we HAD to do the pump swap.
Once we got the bottom end all buttoned up we started with the top end. He wanted it to breath from 2500-Redline so the best of the best was needed. The head got ported and shaved, 1mm oversized SS valves, Bronze valve guides, Cometic head gasket, Stiffer springs, Custom ground cams, and new light weight lifters.
The rest of the motor got high quality parts such as Cloyes timing chain and Felpro gaskets all the way around. Nothing was spared on this motor.
Please enjoy the pics, as much as we enjoyed the build. If you have any questions feel free to post them.

I am sure I will add to this later on.
Now on to the pics. Here are some, or you can view the entire album

Custom grind according to the OP
Beautiful engine. It's art as much as it is performance

It appears they used a Cometic MLS gasket...which is pretty popular among us LD9'ers.

or spend as much time as he did and have a @!#$ sexy intake lol
you have a very nice engine, now clean up that engine bay. Don't rush it. Engine bay looks terrible....get on it!
GMR has got nothing on this
why bronze guides? they'll wear faster than a harder material...don't you want your head lasting longer then 50000 without needing work?
a performance LD9 lasting more than 50,000 miles? this i gotta see...

This thread deserves a giant facepalm!
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
I do not want this thread to turn into a pissing match at all. There is something wrong with the motor and Rob and I are working out to figured what happened. Until we determine what happened I will not make any other post.

completely understandable.

well thats al;l gonna depend on how much he wants out of the engine, but do you guys expect to rebuild your engines every 30-40 thousand miles?
considering my cars have seen a combined total of 18,000 miles in the almost ten years i have owned them... i doubt its going to be an issue for me.
but yes, i absolutely would rebuild after probably 40-50K. it would all depend on leak down and compression check numbers and oil consumption etc...
