Need some input on an oil pressure sending unit install for my 2.2 Ecotec. I have had it sitting around since I bought the car back in March and the oil pressure gauge just sitting in the pod is starting to annoy me.
The car is turbocharged with the saab setup is that means anything.
Pictures and some instruction would be appreciated. The sending unit is already threaded on the end for it to go into the head, will this work, or do I need some other type of an adapter?
Thanks
If you want to put it in the head (the drivers side), you will need the adapter. It's sold on jegs for like 8 bucks I believe. Here's the link.

Fairly simple to do.
If you want pics and instructions just do a search for "oil feed" or any other key words like that. Make sure you find the ecotec one though.

the electronic ones sometimes arent very accurate. The GOOD electronic ones are like $250
I had a cheap one on my old car and it never worked right

RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
alright I went on JEGS to order the part, and after the handling charge and shipping fee it is 16 dollars??? for just that...?
Anyother places to grab it cheap?
And when I pull the plug in the head, will any oil seep out, or should it be down in the pan?
would you price match with jegs?
There's no oil pressure when the engine is off. BUT...im yet to put mine in so i dont know if any would leak out.
Anyone else know??

Yes when you pull out the plug out of the head you will get some oil running out...

Sorry to bump an old post, but what port are you guys using for the sending unit. I've been referenced to 3 just below the exhaust manifold, but it seems near impossible to fit anything into them due to space constraints. It's the blue one circled, and the two to the left:
I've also been told to T off the oil pressure switch, but I can't seem to find that.
Any advice?
(Don't mind the sig, I've got an ecotec now
)
I used the port you have circled but on front of motor under intake since its easier to get to for me.
There is a couple ports on the head also. As FYI if you use the head it will read lower (much lower). You can take out the factory sending unit and replace with the aftermarket one. It is on the front of the block under the intake manifold, but above the starter.

How did you guys remove the factory sending unit? I just got my adapter (Project got put on the backburner) and it seems redicuosly hard to remove? Do you need an Oil Sender Socket, or is there a way to remove it other than that? Thanks
i used the port on the head... but i also used a braided hose kit from autometer to relocate the sender as i've heard horror stories of fittings breaking from the weight vibration of the sending unit.
so-so pic ...
(hose running in front of the abs block)
I needed to bring this back from the dead... I ended up misplacing my old sending unit and adapter fitting ugh...
got caught up in fixing the car and never got around to doing this.
Can someone recommend me a decent electronic sending unit and the hose kit I'll need? I'd like to get this done soon being I have time on the weekends...
FML, ordered the wrong thread fitting twice lol..ordered one cheap brand and thought it wouldnt thread just cause it was junk then ordered the wrong autometer fitting which was the 2266. Does the oil press sender location have the same thread size as the other other head plug location?
