Iridium Spark Plugs Help

Are iridium spark plugs the best you can buy? And do they make a difference in gas mileage and/or performance?

If they aren't, what are the best?

And do plug wires make a decent difference?

I didn't notice anything when I put my NGK Irdidium's in over the stock coppers. But it made me feel better deep inside.

so, to me I noticed no difference, maybe a little easier start ups, and if your going to get new plugs you may want to consider buying some that you can run a shot of nitrous on down the road if you plan on it.

I found the Iridiums made a bit of a difference on a mostly stock engine. only a few bolt-on's for this 2.2 and a tune.

for you though, most say just stick with the AC Delco Platinum's. the y work the best for the 2.4 LD9's.

I am running a LD9 with the mp45 s/c and I went with the iridiums (one step colder) they seem to work fine for me. Got them gapped to 0.30 and I wasn't seeing any KR with a mild tune, as we pushed it a little more we saw a few degrees of knock but nothing unusual. I cant see why you'd have a problem with them but I didn't see what you were running for a setup.

Ah nothing much more than a few bolt ons and a stage 2 clutch.... CAI and Header is the only performance things under the hood. Everything else i don't think would affect what im asking. (like strut bars and so on...)

I don't know if they are actually as good as much as they are worth. I didn't look into other plugs for my car cause I heard these were apparently the "best" or I guess the most expensive. You may be able to find something that is cheaper and will pretty much do the same thing. It all depends on your budget and if you think its worth it, cause in the end, is a iridium plug gonna give you more gains over another decent NGK with only minor mods, I figure it won't, but thats just me.

Yeah, any decent set of plugs you will be paying for... i don't know exactly what im doing yet. And everyone with the 2.4 knows how much of a pain in the @$$ it is to get the plugs in the first place. =P

The NGK Iridium plugs were felt immediately! Back when I had a lot of bolt ons only (no tuning etc). But could have been due to the fact that the old plugs were worn. Still mainly after 5 K is when I could tell a difference. I just upgraded to DENSO irdium, and love em! I say pay for the plugs; E-BAY! I got mine for $ 40 shipped (DENSO). My top end with the Denso, just like the NGK is noticeable, even in this FL freakin heat!

run stock plugs if you have a stock motor. best ones for the motor.

Performance wise theres no difference, the difference is life with irriduims they last pretty much forever, not like copper plugs which are shot by 10,000 miles
