Ok ive been searching all day and im not really coming up with any answers. Does anyone know what exactly the tolerances are with the valves fully open with the secret cams and having 10:5 to 1 compression wiseco's in an ld9? I wanna do this combo soo bad but i dont wanna smash a piston due to too much lift on them. I know they work great with the stock pistons. Ive just been wondering what kind of space i have using different cams...... Any intelligent input would be nice. I think this is a good thing to be discussed and i think im the only one on here using that setup and boost plus nitrous and im putting alot of money into this engine and dont wanna flush it down the drain due to a stupid error.

so don't flush it down drain due to s stupid error and build it right. If your worried get valve cutouts when you order them from Wiseco. Or simply install the the parts and measure valve clearance, if its to little get reliefs cut to meet your specific needs.
they way we measured it in skool (this is gonns sound weird), put clay, like the stuff you played with as a kid, on the piston, not to much obviously, put the old head gasket on then torque the head down, rotate the engine one full sequence (2 turns) then unbolt the head and remove it. you'll see exactly where the vales are and you can measure the thickness of the clay in the area the valve shmushed.
horsepower is the force that determines at what speed you hit the wall, torque is the force that determines how far you take the wall with you after you hit it.

That goes with intelligent questions.
If you already have 10.5:1 pistons, you must already have pockets. Check your pistons card. YOU have to do the work, not us.

first off mr. smartass, i dont already have the pistons. im not going to order 400 dollar pistons if they are not going to work.. all i was asking was for some useful input, but i shoulda known to expect some stupid input from someone on here.

paul tjpekes ran 10.5:1 wiseco's with HO cams (thats a hell of a lot more lift than the puny secret cams) with an ld9 head and had tons of clearance. i've heard the car run. ive driven the car. its fine.
you will be just fine.
Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...
thank you zyaaaa. thats an answer i was looking for.

That right there is enough to tell you that you didn't do your homework. If you think I'm a smart ass, you must be dumber than I tought. Face the reality, you don't know what you are doing.
When you order custom pistons, you HAVE to give them the specs.
BTW, I'll be a smartass to the one that deserves it, IE YOU. If you would have search a little bit, you would have found your info right on Wiseco web site but no, you are too dumb to understand that and do it yourself. You ahd to be spoonfed like 90% of the people.

this is z yaaaa and paul....
mfk- karo has ordered these particular ones several times in the past. he really does not need to tell him anything more than desired cr (in this case 10.5:1) and bore size. this is common knowledge and its been around for awhile now.
and pulicdisturbance- 400? they are way more than that lol! i believe i paid in the long run its around $550 shipped.

So Wiesco isnt going to be dicks about it anymore? I tried to get some 10:1 pistons (through Karo) and after 5 weeks of BS (including telling me the program was set and the pistons just needed cut) they finally made up a claim of loosing the mold of the head and not being able to make them.
Did the $550 include any coatings? I have been dealing with Diamond for my pistons due to the Wiseco BS. I think my last set was $725 with ceramic top coat and moly side coatings.
listen here you waste of life, dont give input if its going to be negative. obviously YOU didnt do YOUR research because if you had you would realize wiseco only lists the specs for their 9:1 pistons for the LD9. Not 10:5 to 1. Its no wonder this site loses people everyday. Im not ordering custom pistons and im not giving specs. Ive already picked out my pistons, and karo has them in stock. No need to special order something someone else has already. All i wanted to know was the clearance with the cams i was using and i got an answer i was looking for from z yaaa so theres no need for me to waste my time on you anymore you loser.

great just leave then. People were saying the same thing 6 years ago yet the site only got bigger?!?!?!? I guess your right.
And to add fuel t the fire, was it too hard for your little brain to think about asking Karo himself?
Btw, this is the internet, you don't like it, just like. People will always have something negative to say.

Wiesco gave me ALL kinds of crap when I wanted 14:1.
I had to know EVERY thing, and had to give them EVERY dimension. I was quoted something around $550. I got tired of waiting, and then the pistons never happened.

^^^ sounds like wiseco.
i think paul waited 5 months for the first set and another 3 for the second?
he's going with a set of diamond 11:1's now though...
Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...

If Diamond has any questions about the combustion chamber just have them contact me. They are about 15min from my house.
is EVERYBODY 15 mins from your house?! jesus!

Just Diamond and Trick Titanium.
I should have some nice pictures by the end of the week.

when I talked to wiseco directly they gave me a load of crap back in the day saying they couldn't go higher than 10:1 on the eco.
I don't know if anyone else will remember, but for a while, wiseco offered 11:1 pistons off the shelf for the ecotec. when I brought them up the guy on the phone didn't know what I was talking about.
I'm not crazy. I remember those pistons being listed on carcustoms.net
whenever I spoke to karo he said he could get any compression I wanted just to tell him the word.. this was when I was still deciding on turbo or all motor.
when I heard ben wenzel waited almost 6 months for his I decided off the shelf was the best way to go.
I don't understand why you guys had to wait so long. When I ordered my 12:1 for the Ho from Karo, it took the 6 weeks like Wiseco said.
But, I won't go with wiseco again since one piston is smaller than the other and they don't want to make a new one to replace it even if I pay.

and this is why I am getting diamond or mahle for new build wiseco gave me @!#$ abck in the day too

je also makes pistons for us, guys.
iirc there's even yet another company that makes pistons for us (ld9's anyways im sure there's 50 different ecotec ones)

Any website links to diamond pistons? Never heard of them, any good?

If you want pistons for a 2.4 get ready to make a @!#$ load of measurements. They have my numbers on file but I plan on giving then fresh numbers as I am not sure that the previous block was 100% correct. This is dependent one me being motivated enough to get the tools to make the measurements and then actually doing it.
Couldn't a competent machine shop do the measuring?
Anyone know if Turbo Tech can get their JE pistons in anything higher then 10:1?
