hey will the msd coils for a 3800 work on a 3400 .or if not are there any aftermarket coils for the 3400

I'm pretty sure they're the same. Just the wiring and the ICM controls the firing pattern. I think the coilpacks on just about everything are the same. J-body, N-body, W-body, F-body all that.

You can also look up the part numbers. Look on something like AutoZone.com for a 99 Grand Prix with the 3800, and a 99 Grand Am with the 3400.... see if the part number for the coils is the same.

k i was looking at the msd units but i was unsre if they would work

i was reading on 60degreev6 that some people were having problems with msd's frying a factory icm just some food for thought to look in to

i have these installed on my cavalier they are about 50 bucks each "MSD p/n 8224 Coil GM Coil Pack 2 Tower Style " they work great. but if you wanted stock from a junk yard or something then yes all of the gm coil packs are the same.
