i have a 2000 sunfire with the 2.2 ,(standard tranny) my motor is on the way out but i found a complete 98 sunfire gt with a 2.4 (drop in motor from the dealer in it and less than 6000kms on it ,was a good friends car) anyway i can get the complete car with a bad tranny(standard) for 300 , any tips or info on swapping the 98 2.4 into my 2000 2.2? Ive searched and found most swaps are being done for a newer motor where im going back 2 yrs in motors. any help greatly apreciated and thxs in advance.

Dont go backwards, get a newer motor.

the motor is new (gm drop in with only 6000 kms) and the car only has 90 000 kms on it, im not looking to do the eco swap, or even swap for more power .quite content with my 2.2 but its on its way out and has close to 300 000 kms on it and I can pick up the whole complete car(98 sunfire gt with bad tranny) for 300

You can't use the 2.2 tranny with the 2.4 to begin with. You will need different injector,fuel rail, 2 wire o2 sensor, 2wire knock sensor, tranny, 2000 up computer and harness.
