I just did my motor swap last week 2000 2.4 and tranny into a 99 sunfire with a 97 harness and pcm. Everything was fine when i got it all hooked up but had a slight blog below 3000rpm. But ran like a raped ape. Since this past weekend i've noticed it was acting like it was loosing power and bogging. Yesterday it got real bad when i went to leave the auto parts store. When i started it up and tried to back up it kept bogging and missing everytime i gave it gas. Kept trying to rev it and finally started running half way descent but is loosing power big time.
My check engine light is on for no egr but not sure if anything else. I will try and check tomarrow. I've changed the plugs with ngk plat., fuel filter, made sure the throttle was opening up all they way, checked my grounds and all my connections and i just did the 2200 coil swap. Which seems to kind of gotten rid of my bog but when i smash it open now since there isn't a bog as much it acts like it doesn't want to open up or tach up. Need some help.. thanks
O and when i did the swap i switched the injectors and rail from a 96 z24.
Lord knows that was the case with my LN2'd '94 S-truck after I just got done swappin' cranks in it. Took it around the block hopin' it'd clear-out but no luck. Took it into the garage & the next day dropped the extention pipe to check the bricks with a flashlight. Sure enough, it was clogged. I had to get it home since my unk needed the space again, so I took a floor-jack handle & smashed-up the brick a bit, started the engine and punched the throttle a few times. Did that a few times 'til all of the core blew out, then reattached the pipe & drove it home (I should mention that since it was a pre-'96 vehicle that it only had the one EGOS upstream of the cat, so it threw no code). I had to replce it come test time, but it did the job.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Sorry forgot to mention that i have no cat. I got it figured out though. Either my coil pack housing or one of the coils was goning bad. And when i switched to the 2.2 coils and plug wires last nigh i manage to forget to plug the ait sensor in. Plugged in and it doesn't bog or stumble at all now. But it doesn't act like it has the get up and go it did when i first put it in.
Moreless it doesn't act like it has any pick up or want to tack up. It did this before the coil swap in which i did that in hopes to clear up the missfiring, stumble and hopefully get some get up back. Any suggestions maybe? tps,map or anything???
On my 98 z-24 my car bogged bad because a vaccum line was bad , when it finally broke my engine light came on and 1 Hr labor at the GM dealership later my car runs great.
its not bogging any more and all my lines are new and in place. My problem now is it will start sputtering like out of gas when i start it up and sometimes die. It did it last night when i was leaving to go to work. Started up and was fine went to back up and give it some gas. It started sputtering and just died. Started it right back up and it was fine.
Just did it about 30mins ago and this time it was warm and i start it and sounded like a steam engine. Let it idle for about 30 sec's and it quit. It act's like it is getting to much fuel or not enough. So i'm going to test the pressure tomarrow.
Does anyone have any ideas? Like sensors or anything? Would the tps sensor be causing it? All of my sensors have 129,000miles on them besides the o2 in the manifold. I'm throwing a p0141 and another code for the o2 sensor but those are for being catless. O and one for have no egr but i was told it wouldn't bother the running.
